Hi ladies, I've been reading all over this forum and had three contractions yesterday, or so I think and they were five minutes apart. I also was having the dull constant ache in my lower back. My contraction were in my lower abdomen and very tight. I'll be 36 weeks on Tuesday and worry about a premature birth, am I experiencing contractions or BH, I don't know what to think, I'm a first time mom.

Sounds like BH to me, 36 weeks is probably okay if you did go early. premature is when your baby can't breathe on its own, preterm is when youre early but the baby can survive on its own, not the same thing. But I wouldn't worry unless your contractions continue on that way for more than an hour. Hope that helps

A baby is full term at 37 weeks. So 36 is only a week early

37-42 weeks is considered term, however, each women and each pregnancy is different, so it might or might not be too early for your baby. Viable doesn't always mean mature and ready. Also, preterm doesn't mean baby can survive. Preterm labor is a complication many babies are lost to.

According to my doctor, If you start going into labor at 36 weeks, the doctors won't stop you from having the baby since it's so close to being full term
