Went to the doctor today and she said the baby has dropped and I am at 70% effacement. Also, I am dialated a little over 2 cm. and she said the cervix feels very soft. After the internal exam, I left there and a little while later I noticed some brownish discharge. Is this the bloody show? Going by the figures, how soon should I expect labor begin? I know it's not absolute, I'm just so anxious!!

That is the mucus. It comes away just before labour, and is often triggered by an internal. How far gone are you? It does sound to me like you are about to go into labour. Good luck I hope everything goes well xxx

I forgot to mention that I am almost certain she stripped my membranes. It was painful, but I certainly hope she did!! :-) If so, does this increase my odds of going into labor sooner than later?? Oh, I am 39 weeks by the way.

I'm 39 weeks and 3 days. Today at my doctor visit the doctor said I'm 2 1/2 centimeters dialated and my cervix is very thin and the babies head is dropped way low. He said "you may be delivering this week"....just wondering does is sound like i will for sure...or what???

Everyones labour is different. With my 2nd they said I hadn't dilated at all, nor had she dropped but about 2 hours later I was pushing her out.

At my last dr appt of my first pregnancy, I was dialated to 1cm and was told it would be a few days/a week. I had her about 48 hours later.
