my son is 17months old. i had a V birth, i did have the epidural also. now i know every mum would get the normal back ache from carrying/br___t feeding/ even leaning over the bath every day to bath there toddlers but i swear i have something seriously wrong with my back. after i had my boy i had about 3 wks of physio that the hospital supplyed me for free bacause i had just had a baby. for about 3mnths after birth i couldnt stand on my right leg without holding onto something it was hard to put pants on, and i was walking with a limp, i had shooting pains from my leg to by bum up to my back, so it kinda just faded away but since then my back is just sore.. i cant stand up for long periods of time i feel like if i sit with my back straight its painful and i HAVE to slouch for it to ease, i cant lay on the floor (like a hard floor) because i feel my coxic bone touch the floor and it stings and burns when hubby massages me and pushes on that spot i get the same feeling, i sweep and my back ends up in knots and tenses and it spasims. this is all on a bad day, everyother day its a constant dull pain. so ya get my point, could this injury be from purely giving birth?? rememebr i was induced (if that means anything) or can this be a side effecdt from having a epidural??.... is anyone experiancing the same things as me? i just cant handle it anymore im 21 and i feel like im going to go through this for the rest of my life, and i want another baby how can it get any worse :'( sorry about spelling and raving on its late and im tired lol

I yumymumy - Have you ever been to a chiropractor before? Sounds to me like you have something that needs to be put back in place, maybe from having your ds.....At least that is where I would start. I work for a chiropractor and you would be amazed the things he has done for people! Give it a try - GL!!

well i was told that a side effect of the epideral is back ache but that should have subsided by now that should last only maybe 6 months to a year i really can't remember the exact length but some of your pain sounds like my my mother in law discribes to me but she has a herniated disc and had surgery but its back now so but i've heard that having one child shortly after another that it could cause back problems so i would go and get checked out at a chiropractor good luck and i hope that you feel better

Hi there I very much doubt it's the epidural that did it to you......it sounds like it's a muscular thing. My baby is 4 and a half months.......I had a similar thing for a few weeks when he was about 3 months old but it's now pa__sed. There were 2 conclusions I drew from my pain......it was either 1.just not bending down properly when I picked up baby from the floor, his rocker- anywhere really! Also carrying them around in a babybjorn all the time, everything really with lifting- there aren't many people whose backs are used to all that strain and then as soon as you have a baby you are constantly working those muscles, if you aren't careful even one time it can put your muscles out....OR.......2. if you had an epi I a__sume you were on your back during the birth- this is not the best position for giving birth as it puts the pressure of the baby in all the wrong places, epis are great! but it's not natures way and that's why a natural birth is much better for your body- although expremely painful at the time you recover MUCH better and hardly ever have strains after the birth as your body will take over and you will naturally get into positons which are better for you and baby....I think your baby may have just hurt your back coming out but because of the drugs you couldn't feel it so didn't move into a different position....... I'm no ''back expert'' but from personal experience I honestly think it'll get better for you. I doubt it was the epi, your body just needs to adjust and go back into the right places etc, remember bad backs can be caused just being pregnant before you even give birth so don't stress that you've put yourself in that position by having and epi. Try and have a warm bath everyday and rub deep heat muscle cream(I a__sume you're in the U.S but something similar if they don't have deep heat there- a hot muscle cream) onto the sore parts each night......that helped for me a lot...and I took GREAT care to bend my knees when lifting baby etc....... stay positive- I really don't think your back will be like that for the rest of your life- you're only 21 after all! your body is young and will recover from things with time. Also, go and see a specialist. I know they can be expensive but it's worth it, you can't go on in that much pain. Hope this helps :-)
