Is there any particular song that really spoke to you about/during labour? Why? Any recommendations to what to put on the tape to take to delivery?

My husband picks the music...I'm too busy breathing through the contractions to care what's playing! That's not entirely true - I know his taste in music will get the m/wives talking and that keeps me distracted...It's AC/DC every labour!! Our kids bop to it in the womb and its pretty much their first word -'Angus!' It's very sad! lol !!

I didn't know I was supposed to have music when mine were born- lol!! Seriously, though, what type of music is your fav? Also, do you know if you're having a boy or girl? There's a sweet new country song out- I think it's called, "I Loved her First"- about a dad and daughter, which might be sweet if you are having a girl. Also, "In My Daughter's Eyes"- obviouly another song for a girl. Can you tell I like country music?

Our kids are grown up on music..My husband plays guitar and used to drum in a pipe band..As a result we always have Scottish pipe band music blaring - and as I said he's fanatical about AC/DC...but he does have quite a varied taste - he's been playing country music this past while which I have to say - sorry - I can't abide...I just like background music so I'm not really to be listened to!! My husband despairs of me...I would happily listen to The Beautiful South or David Bowie....

There's this song from Jamie Foxx called "you still got it". I LOVE that song. Especially right now. My hubby plays it for me from time to time and it makes me cry EVERYTIME. It's R&B. I've got it on my ipod ready to take to the hospital with me. Do they allow headphones or must it be on a cd?

carol I think they'll allow you to wear headphones unless it's going to intervere with something medical--which I can't see it doing. iemc AC/DC somehow seems fitting in a labour and delivery room---I can see how you can ROCK OUT in there! shamof3-those are both beautiful suggestions, I'm not that much into country but I actually KNOW those songs and the words are quite beautiful. With my first labour my water broke in the car and U2-Bloody Sunday was playing. It was Saturday and the next morning my son was born. That song always reminds me of the birth...the words go... "I cant believe the news today Oh, I cant close my eyes and make it go away How long... How long must we sing this song? How long? how long... cause tonight...we can be as one Tonight... " It's got this cool military beat like you're fighting for something...(;
