My wife was fully dilated at 8cm and the epideral she ordered 3 months ago was not ready..the anethesiologist was was nowhere in sight. It took him 45 mins to get there and she was too close to pushing. They gave her a saddle block instead of an epideral. The juice worn off near the end and now she is having neck pain and severe headaches. Is this a common side effect of the saddle block or could it just be from the pushing she did to deliver?

The neck pain is probably from pushing, the headaches are probably from the saddle block. The saddle block & epi are administered very much alike, the saddle block is more like a "shot" that numbs for about 2 hours. The epi is a catheter put in place so that the drugs can be administered more frequently to keep you numb. Spinal headaches are a possible side effect for both. They can try a blood patch for he headaches, but they usually require lying flat on your back for anywhere from 2-7 days to allow for healing.
