Scared About Being Induced After Reading Posts

I have read previous posts regarding induction and now I'm scared. I am due Monday the 19th and yesterday at my Dr. appt. my doctor said I am not making any progress. He wants me to go back to see him Monday and if still nothing, he is scheduling an induction for Wednesday the 21. I was fine with it but many women have posted their bad experiences with induction. Any feedback or words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

Kel, I was induced with my first son and it was nothing, I was soo excited, I went in early the morning I gave birth and they broke my water, which is actually a relief because all the pressure is gone, and then I walked around the hospital for a few hours, went into active labor, had an epidural and then after 9 hours total of labor I had my wonderful son. There isnt anything to be scared of, the doctors know what they are doing and trust me, after you are induced the only thing you will be thinking about is, within a few hours you are going to be holding your beautiful baby. Hang in there and good luck, everything will be great. Come back and let me know how it went :)

Ashlie, thank you for the positive story. I will post back and let you know how I made out. Your right, I think I will be focusing on the fact that my baby will be with me in a short amount of time and I should just take it all in stride. Thank you again, Ashlie

Hi Kel - September 17

I've had bad experiences with inductions, but don't let it scare you, because I have friends who had easy inductions. No matter what, you get over it fast. I think it's better to wait on baby, but sometimes you can't.

I was induced with my daughter and it only took 3 hours. With my son i started labor on my own but it slowed down at 4 cms so they induced and that only took 3 hours. I just had another little boy last week and i was in labor for two days i was begging for them to induce but they wouldn't. I would say that mine are good experiences because it was over with alot faster when i was induced.

Don't be scared. I was induced for my first, and it really wasn't THAT bad. I had a looooong labor, but that was because of other problems. Overall it was ok. I got an epidural, and then delivery wasn't too bad. Don't let people scare you. I was TERRIFIED b/c of what everyone was saying. Now, I am due this week, and it looks like I may be induced again. I am not scared at all. Hope that helps!!

Prose, thank you for the positive reinforcement. I'm actually going in tonight @ 5 and my doctor is giving me Cervaidil. What were you given. Good luck to you, I hope you have another good experience.

I was induced with #2 and it hurt, but was short. I don't think the actual pain was worse than regular labor. Since the labor was shorter, though, it seemed to hurt more. Who knows what it would have been like without the induction. I didn't have any drug-induction, though.
