To Induce Or Not To Induce

I am due Monday (only 1 cm dialated) and my doctor has scheduled me to be induced on Tuesday. What do you guys think about being induced? I am worried that it is more painful. I've heard good and bad things about it, now I am really nervous. At the same time, I am ready to have this baby! Should I stick with the inducing or should I protest and wait?

I think that you should go ahead with the induction if you are ready to have your baby. It can be painful both ways so instead of waiting those few days of labor to begin; I say let the induction begin

I have heard that induction sucks. The pain is worse. Were you planning to have an epidural? If you were, go for it. If you had any hopes for natural, I'd put it off. I always worry they might be wrong about the due date. Best of luck. Whatever you decide, you win!

Thanks for the input! That really helps, I feel better about it now. I do plan on having an epidural so I guess I will be alright. I hope he comes before Tuesday but at least I know I will finally have a baby in the next few days! =)

Is there a medical reason for why you need to be induced? Otherwise I am of the opinion, what's the point. I am due tomorrow with no signs of going yet and see no point in rushing nature.

There's no medical reason other than the fact that my doctor likes inducing. I'm sure it's more of a convience thing for them. Although, they do believe that the placenta begins to break down after 40 weeks and prefer inducing rather than waiting it out. They did say that I could decide to wait if I wanted to, it's up to me.

Good luck with your decision!

I was induced on my due date with my first baby. Her weight was 8 1/2 lb. and I'm only 4'11. So the dr thought that if i waited any longer i wouldn't be able to deliver her. After 36 painful hrs of labor without being able to get up and walk around, i ended up getting a c-sec anyways. I dilated 4 cm! Stayed in the hospital an entire week due to other complications. My suggestion is wait, let your body take it's natural course.
