Can anyone please tell me what the "station" mean when mt doctor says I am at a Station -1. I know 0 means the baby is way up there, but how far do the numbers go negative before the head is actually engaged in the pelvis.

Hi there. I believe station 0 actually means babies head is crowning! -5, -4,-3,-2,-1 are measurements used to describe the number of fifths of babies' head can be felt above pelvis. (-5 being not engaged and -1 being very engaged!) Hope that makes sense, i lifted the info direct from a book so hopefully is accurate! Good luck xx

Hi i just had my baby on sept 12 and when the nurse was talking to me about the "station" she said the numbers went -4,-2,0,2,4. -4 being at the top of the birth ca___l, 0 starting to crown, and 4 end of birth ca___l. Hope that helps best of luck

Each number represents a centimeter. -1 means 1 centimeter from the "crowning" stage.
