Last nite I felt a lot of pressure really low and a lot of lower back pain. My stomach was also really hard and tight feeling. The baby was also kicking me in the ribs and moving a lot. So I just wonder if it was contractions or her just doing "somersaults". Wil I definately know when they are braxton hix? When I was preg with my first. i felt sharp pains (BH's) in my back, but nothing else. I wasn't even sure i was in labor for the first hour. My contractions with him started 6 minutes apart, and I had always been told that they wouldn't be that close together at first. I'm 36 weeks as of yesterday and am really ready to have my girl. I'm hoping that they were BH's so that I can have a sign that its getting close to the end. I have an intuition that she will come early. Let the waiting continue..........

Funny I was told braxton hicks don't go all the way around, only in the front. Quite honestly thats the only way I've felt them. I realized I was in labor when they became painful and went all the way around.

my braxton hicks were usually fairly painless, just a really hard tight stomach that lasted for about a minute each time. i did occasionally feel the tightness in my back too but it was actual labor pain....that was WAY more painful in the lower back.

it felt like i was tightening my stomach muscles but uncontrollably, not even uncomfortable just weird like a muscle spasm or twitch. your body is probably getting ready to go, but it could take a while so i don't want to get your hopes up. good luck

Ya know, at first I didn't know i was having Braxton Hicks either. I thought it was the baby just sitting low putting pressure on me. They weren't painful, just a little uncomfortable. THey were mainly just low in my uterus (it was hard and tight). They also don't last too long. I've been getting really bad back cramps and pains in my low back and I wondered too if it was BH in the back. I've been getting braxton hicks for probably a month or longer and I am only 33 weeks, so i don't know if it means you'll be in labor soon... but maybe! Good luck

I get BH all the time when pregnant, getting stronger as the pregnancy progresses. They are always in the front, not the back. That' real contractions (so I've been told - haven't met a woman yet whose had BH around the back...) Anyway, this is what my BH feels like. You know when a pulley goes up? You have to pull, get some more rope, then pull, get some more rope, etc. I can feel my entire stomach muscles do that. The uterus in just a ball of muscle and it tightens and tightens rythymically and holds for a number of seconds, then it relaxes. Sometimes it happens with no tiny stops, just slowly tightening for a little while, but usually I can feel the 'degree's of it tightening. It's a freaky feeling, not painful at all, but can be very uncomfortable the bigger baby gets. When walking around, it makes you walk funny because there's no give in your belly! Just tightness. My BH get so strong at the end, that they are actually painful, and I'm sure last time in labour, I mistook contractions as BH. I'm 22 weeks now with our fifth and I started getting them around 17 weeks...hope this ramble helped!

Finally I have figured them out. Last nite the baby stopped moving and I still had the tightness in my stomach off and on. Guess i have been getting them all this time. Only 2 1/2 more weeks to go. Thanks to all of you ladies. i wouldn't have been able to figure them out with out you.
