Hi, i'm new here. The name is Ashley, you can call me Ash. Due March 25th!!! Anyways, I had a friend who was due April 1st (One week after me) and today I found out she has lost her baby.
Before I found this out, I was already in lots of pain. You know the strains of that last home stretch before your bring your baby into this world. But now im going insane because i'm scared the same thing is going to happen to me.
I really want to be induced, but my doctor said she'd rather wait until I go to atleast 41 weeks! I can't wait that long! Is there any way or suggestions you guys may have that I can get a doctor to induce or the hospital?

Well Ash i know it is hard to settle down but honestly stressing out and worrying is not healthy for baby...but as for your question all i can really say is that all pregnancies are different and that there are many reasons why this may have happened however fortunately for you this probably won't be the case...so sit back relax and for right now, just be there for your friend!!

Hey Ash. Sorry about your friend's baby. Please realize that it is extremely rare for her to have lost her baby that far along. Inducing early is riskier than letting nature take its course during a healthy pregnancy. Your doctor is right. Unless you have high blood pressure or other complications, just trust your body to handle everything--no need to rush it. That last month is hard, but the first month with a new baby is harder :) No need to rush it!

I'm with CoLark on that...no need to worry and trust me, your body automatically knows when and what to do exactly everything. I had my first last November and am pregnant again! My contractions came out of the clear blue sky and 4 hours and one push later, he was out! No epidural! It's crazy. It hurts like a $%&* and it's a bit nerve wracking, but it's all temporary and you'll get through it!

hi ash, sorry to hear bout your friends baby its so sad, i have to agree with baby lover and colark though you need to try and take it easy and not get to stressed, the odds of the same thing happening to you are very high and the longer your babys in there the better it is for them. hang in there huny~cheryl~:=) xx

I would ask your doctor why they would want you to be a week over due when a full term baby is 40 weeks - sometimes I don't understand why doctors want us to go a week past due - it's because they are the ones carrying them that why! LOL good luck There is no real need to go a whole week past due I think it's ridiculous myself by then we get so miserable - give me a break

In other countries where pitocin is not routinely given (virtually all countries except the US), it is actually very common for pregnancies to run 42 weeks average, and their infant mortality rates are significantly lower. The US has the second highest infant mortality rate out of the developed countries. Going over is not necessarily a bad thing. It's okay. My midwife says that nearly all of the first time mothers she has go 41 weeks and 1 day. It'll be just fine. I'm due the day before you, by the way. :) Congratulations and try not to worry-- the chances of you losing your baby now are very small.
