Call The Doctor

When I go into labor, do I call my doctor first before I go to the hospital? Will the hospital notify my doctor if I don't first? Will my doctor be the one to deliver my baby?

Just go to the hospital if you feel like it. There is no need for you to call your doctor. Usually doctors tell the first time mothers to call them, because I was told over half the time the women are not in true labor and are sent home from the hospital anyways. I firmly believe that if you know d__n well your in labor, hospital only!!! I had my daughter when I was 20, (I'm 27 now) and I called the doctor after my water broke told the nurse what happened, and was told to come in to the office to be checked. STUPID!!! But since I was young and did not know any better, I did it. I was at a 6 when I got to the doc's office. Good Luck!

Also, if you doctor is able to get to the hospital in time, he/she will deliver your baby, but if he is not on call that day, it will be someone else.

The nurse told you to go into the doctor's office even after you told her your water had broke? I hope your doctor's office was close to the hospital! At least everything worked out OK. Thanks for answering my question!

Yeah, I think she did htat because I was so young, and probably did not think I knew what had happened to me. They, doctors and nurses, kind of figure that you are a bit stupid....anyways, the doctors office was one building away from the hospital and I had to be wheeled there....I know better now!!!!!
