I was told that I could drink as much as I liked of the tea as I was about due and that it wouldn't harm the baby. I've been having about 4-5 cups a day using two teabags steeped for about 3 mins. I've had some twinges but mostly my stomach just tightens and I get frustrated.

teja~ I'm 39 weeks and appart from the twinges and a huge tightening of my uterus there was nothing else. Nipple stimulation seems to cause contractions more than the tea. I think that unless the cervix is ripe enough no ammount of tea or nipple rubs is gonna start labor.....although like everyone else here I live in hope. I was induced in hospital with my son and I'd rather try and do it naturally this time around.

I am going to be 38 weeks on thursday, but my last visit with my midwife ( a week ago) she said that my cervix was very soft and thin and that I was dialated 1 an a half centimeteres. She said that she thinks it could be any time from now till two weeks. Whats the longest period you can go if youve started dialating, I havnt really felt any contractions just alot of pressure with braxton hicks

I drunk red raspberry tea with my daughter about two to three weeks before I wanted to have her. I read that it helps your body so if your body is at that point then drinking the tea will help bring on the labor. I also used a yoga ball to get the baby into position by rotating my hips I ended up having my daughter a week early just like i wanted to. hope this helps

I have 5 days to go and am going insane. Feeling slightly depressed because I am at the stage where I'm too big and uncomfortable to have much patience for my poor 4 year old. Thank god for Daddy's is all I can say!!! Rasberry leaf tea hasn't worked on me but neither has anything else I've tried.

I am almost 38 weeks 5 days and am so ready for my baby to be here!! After I read all of your comments I bought some tea, but now I'm not sure I got the right thing. I have lipton herbal tea raspberry. Does it HAVE to say raspberry leaf tea or can it just be raspberry herbal tea?

I'm now 40 weeks and two days and let me just say, I have been drinking that yucky raspberry leaf tea since 36 weeks to no avail... I guess the answer is if your body and baby aren't ready it ain't gonna happen.
TiffanyW it does have to be Raspberry leaf tea but I wouldn't bother.
I have also been told Castor Oil works, but some women just say it gives a laxative effect only... I have bought it but am reluctant to use it as I've heard it gives a real gut ache. Maybe I'll wait till my next set on Braxton Hicks and take it then.

Im 37weeks, which i know is early but im only 5'1" with an already large baby and have been having strong Braxton Hicks contractions since about 20weeks! Anyone know of anything else i can try-so uncomfortable now!!!

i don't think raspberry leaf tea is meant to induce labour i think it is meant to help labour go faster, im 37 weeks and have been drinking 2 cups a day for 2 weeks, not expected to induce labour just willing to do anything to make it that little bit easier. i have heard taking castor oil is extremley bad for the baby so please anyone don'take it

I have officially done it all bar castor oil. I wont try that as the risks are just too high. Rasberry leaf tea is not the same as rasberry tea. The latter is just rasberry flavoured normal tea. I have been drinking the tea since 37 weeks and have had nothing. I'm due tuesday. Nipple stimulation is the only method that seems to do more than dissapoint me *L* although it has to be done properly because too much stimulation can stress out the baby....generally a rule of ten mins on one nipple, rest for ten then swap sides. I've officially given up......let the dr's induce me! *L* good luck everyone
