I wrote about two weeks ago about the castor oil. I tried it and it was BAD for me. I am the one who had bm so bad that I will now have hemrroids for the rest of my life because of this. Just wanted to tell people not to take too much. I think I took a little more than half the bottle, maybe 3-4oz and I was (am) still hurting. I was 39+ weeks and 3cen dialated, 50% dropped and this was my fifth child! It should have worked! Well I had to be induced on the 29th of July. Baby was 8 4 oz and labor was fast even though I was induced. I had to be induced with every single one! I was so hoping for a natural delivery (going into labor on my own). Didn't happen. I tried EVERYTHING! And I am sure I was right on all my due dates. I know the day I got pregn. Good luck ladies! Now I am dealing with engorgement and it is sooooooooooooo bad! I feel like I am going to die my b___bs hurt so bad. This is ten times worse then my labor was!

It is now 2:35 pm. I have only had to use the bathroom twice, so it isn't as bad as I thought it would be, but I have had no contractions or anything. I think I will take the rest of the bottle tonight and see if it does anything. Does anyone know if something should have happened by now if it was going to work???

This is my third pregnancy and I am 36 weeks. I went into labor when I was 6 mos and again at 8 mos and had to have my labor stopped both times with medication. Now I am dilated 2cm but only thinned out a small percentage. I still have contractions that are regular and lengthy but there has been no change. The doctors are expecting me to go early but now it seems like nothing is happening, just alot of pain, discomfort, inability to walk, sleep, tremendous pelvic pressure etc. I am tired and worn out now and cant wait to get this over with. I took castor oil with my first pregnancy and it worked that same night, save for the pooping during my delivery. My second it worked but when I was given an epidural, my labor stopped and I had to be given pictocin. Despite all that I think that I am going to try it with this one as well.

Well, it is 11:30 am the next day and the castor oil did nothing for me. I only took two ounces before, so I think I am going to finish off the bottle later on this afternoon. The only thing is that I don't want to be running to the bathroom every five minutes at work, so hopefully this time it works. I'll let you know.

Just thought i'd let you guys know that a little over 50% of women who are already dilating have had castor oil help speed up their delivery. They say you need to already be dilating though. So for those of you that are, you basically have a 50-50 chance. I tried taking some earlier and all I have so far is bad gas and slight cramping. I recommend you take more than half the bottle. That's what I took and now it looks like i'm going to have to finish the bottle off tonight. Good luck to all of you.. and for those of you who are getting anxious, just remember that the baby has gotta come out sooner or later regardless if the oil works for you or not.

I am 4 months pregnant. What will happen if I take Castor oil?

Samantha - August 13

This is the same Samantha that responded June 28th, 2005. That night, sadly, contractions stopped. I decided that she probably just wasn't ready and waited it out. On the 4th of July, I watched the fireworks, and a couple hours later the contractions began and I took a trip to the hospital to find I was already 8 cm, and almost ready to push. At 4:01am on July 5th, Mary was born. My doctor said that I had probably been gradually dialating through the last few weeks since I had contractions only for an hour before I was 8cm. I think the castor oil pushed the dialating process, although it didn't put me into full labor. It didn't work for me, but I have heard many success stories.

I'm 38 wks exactly. An hr ago downed a whole bottle(4 oz) of Castor Oil with orange cream soda. Now I'm awaiting the diarrhea and none so far. My belly just got REALLY hard all of the sudden. We'll see what happens. Hopefully it works!

Hi.. i wrote about a week ago. I took the castor oil.. had strong contractions every 1-2 minutes for 5 hours so i went to labor and delivery. They sent me home because they were only lasting 45 seconds and needed to be lasting 60. Well I got home and went to sleep and woke up and the contractions stopped. SOOOO NOT WORTH IT! I went through 5 hours of intense pain for nothing.. I didn't even dilate past the 1cm I had been previously. I've tried s_x, walking 3 miles every other day, and it's just not doing anything. I guess i'm not one of the lucky ones. Hope you have better luck than I did.

When is your due date? I, too have tried limitless things to get labor going. The Castor Oil thing didn't work for me at all. Just gave me diarhea and vomiting. Definetly not worth it. It does work for some women however just not all. Strange.

Iam 37 and a half weeks i took 2almost 3 tbls of castor oil last night around 600 pm and by 900 had really bad cramps and contractions started around 1230 am. 5 mins apart after about four hours of intense pain ,getting the children to a baby sitter and calling the hospital it all stopped .So iam trying again tonight i just took 2 tbls with oj iam not sure if thats enough but iam desperate because i have a seperated pelvis bone and unable to walk and can not take the pain any moreits like walking with a broken bone constantly wich isnt easy for me considering i have an active 3 year old and 8 year old . i will keep you updated wish me luck ...ps if iam supossed to take more than 2 tabls let me know asap ....thanks

I've heard two 4 oz bottles will get it going. That's what my friend did. At 38 wks she took two bottles of castor oil and the next morning her water broke and 11 hours later she had her baby boy with no complications. Everyones different however. I tried castor oil at 37 and 38 wks and it did not work for me.

I am just over 37 weeks - took 3 tbls, and hoping it will kick start labour. It is 9pm on friday night - going to go to bed around 1100pm..have some nookie with hubby to hopefully give me a kick start. I will let everyone know how it turns out. Another tid-bit - I had s_x twice in one night for my first 2 girls - at 38 weeks, and sent me into labour and delivered both safe - this one is a boy - so we will see...wish me luck ladies.
