My doctor told me that my cervix was very soft im 38 weeks and it is slighty open, does that mean that i have started labour or not?

no, just means you have been having contractions. With my first son I was 2cm at 38wks, and now with my 2nd son I am just a fingertip and I am 38wks today, but it does mean your cervix is more favorable for going into labor.

I was induced at 41wks with my first son because he was getting too big, but I also have a very stubborn cervix and they had to give me pitocin to help me dialate after they broke my water. and now with my 2nd baby I have been having contractions for almost 2 months now and still only a fingertip (but that has alot to do with the stuborn cervix) I am being induced next week (39wks) due to big baby again so it all depends on your body, if your cervix is soft and starting to open then you might want to try walking for awhile.
