lol, i guess if you work in the hospital then yah that is a bit different. i guess its going to be up to you if you think youll want to be at work when being in pain and uncomfy if you get false labor.

I agree it is a "rip-off" to call it "false labor"...my mother had it with one of her pgs but not the other 2...I don't feel like anything is going on...and have a limited amount of time I can be off - so would prefer to be home with lo. However, I also know how embarra__sed I will be if my water breaks at work or something like that!! My dept is 80% guys.

No, smilefull it's not me getting my membranes stripped. I don't even know if they do that over here because none of my friends have ever had that done. I just read on another thread though that your contractions were strong and 3 min apart. Maybe you had your baby already! Lucky Girl! Hopefully my contractions will start back up. It's funny but I think most of us are flipping back and forth from the "third trimester" and "labor question" chat rooms! :) Ok...well i say it every morning but here goes....MAYBE TODAY WILL BE THE DAY!

swisschick--today was the membrane sweep then? I saw it on the other post? You also said you had a girl on one post, and how the senior lady said you had a boy---I'm just getting confused between the two forums?! How is everyone else contractions going? Mine's been so sporadic and non-consequental.

Hey Smilefull! I thought you were busy having a baby since i didn't see any new post from you yesterday. I was getting kind of jealous! :) So you are still hanging on then. Well, it wasn't me getting my membranes swept. I don't know, maybe someone has a similiar name. The most amazing thing happened yesterday though. I went to the clinic to do a control with the baby heart monitor. They could see i was having contractions and just wanted to make sure baby was still cool. Anyway, I'm laying in this delivery room strapped up to the machine, and i can hear voices in the room next door that sound all excited. And then suddenly....WAAAHHHH! It was a baby being born!!! This is my first and i have never heard a newborn cry! IT was so amazing to hear and I could imagine the couple next door being so happy and crying and then I started crying, and i felt a bit ridiculous. I was hoping the nurse wouldn't come back in and see me crying. Anyway, it was inspiring!

I'm so sorry swisschick--my mind is mush, I HOPE from the pregnancy. That's so neat that you got to experience the sounds of birth. That must have been so emotional! Weren't you scared? When I go into into the labour/maternity ward at the hospital and hear the ladies screaming it SCARES me---unnerves me. Awww, I totally understand why you'll be crying! I would be crying too! Anything to do with babies and familes just makes me bawl these days. So you're having contractions??? That's neat. I guess not regular enough or strong that they're keeping you in! But that's great! With me? nothing is happening anymore. I got some cleaning ladies to come in and deep clean the house. do things like clean the walls, and the cracks and the things that I can't reach anymore. I thought that my body would be "okay, things are ready, let's go into labour"--but alas, nothing. One of the cleaning ladies told me she was pregnant. She was a natural "grape" shape--and she turned sideways and asked if I could see her bump. I was sooo shocked, because I REALLY couldn't---she was a beautiful lady, but I couldn't make out where her stomach started and the rest of her body ended at all. I felt so embaressed! I didn't want to offend her! Just made me think of all the people we get mad at for making remarks. So Monday is coming at his like a speeding train!!! You think we'll pop before then?

Yea, witnessing that baby crying was pretty cool! At these clinics in geneva there are only 4 delivery rooms, so it never feels hectic or dramatic. It was pretty calm so i wasn't freaked out. I understand about getting your house clean. Everyone told me, "once the baby's room is all ready, you'll go into labor." So now my house is perfect. (we have been renovating for over a year) and now everything is done, done, done! But of course, ...no baby. She doesn't care. I really hope today is the day! It would be so much easier if it was on the weekend, no? organizationally speaking. Well, good luck!! Wouldn't that be weird if we both went into labor the same day, since we've been experiencing the same kind of symptoms for the last week?

it would be rather fitting. so all day contractions---in church, during lunch, just on and on and on--then around 5pm I was like "enough, I'm going to the hospital". The nurse got really excited when she watched how strong my contractions were--she was getting all ready--telling me where to find food, that I need to eat to get ready for active labour etc. Then she did an internal and her optimism just straight up dropped. She was like "honey, you're in prodromal labour" (strong contractions, NOTHING happening down there). So she did this internal to "stir things up"---and whoza did it hurt. They sent me home with sleeping pills--which I took about an hour ago which is making me really groggy, but I can't sleep because she MUST COME tonight. SHE JUST HAS TO!!! The contractions were so strong I couldn't talk through them. They seem to be gone now, but common! the nurse was sooo nice though--she answered all of my questions, and she seemed to generally care. So it's NOW officially DUE DATE time--12:04 am. Not that that means anything. It should be called the "Best Before Date"---grrrrrr. Let me know how your due date is going swisschick!! (;

oh my gosh smilefull! You are getting so close! I started having contractions too last night at the movie theater but they eventually tapered off. But for the first time I'm sure it was the real thing and I couldn't talk during them. I know i'm not dialating because i still haven't lost the plug, just little bits and pieces. My actual due date was Sept 30 but about 6 weeks ago my geyno told me that she was changing my due date to the 15th because my baby dropped liked 5 weeks ago. She is so low that i can feel her head when i walk. She looks like she will fall out any second....but of course NO. And of course since my geyno has told me that and i've been having all these contractions, i was sure the baby would be here by now. Again...NO. I think she jinxed it and now the baby will wait till like Oct 5 just for fun, ya know? SO frustrating. But YOU, I bet the baby comes today. It's the middle of the night for you but morning here for me and i bet today is the day. I think we have suffered through enough of this false labor junk. WE DESERVE OUR BABIES!! :) keep me posted

your babe has dropped?!? your so lucky--the babe needs to be down, in order for your cervix to dilate--the babes head does the pushing. That's what I found out last night. Apparently everything is ready to go accept the babe's head-I was told that she might be posterior/sunny-side-up and that makes he slip right out and not engage. grrrr.
So this morning I woke up and I had bloody show. It wasn't as nasty as people made it out to be, but it was definetly that. Today--as far as contractions go--nothing. here and there a bit of a tightening. Grrrrr. What's really frustrating right now, and tell me if you're going through the same, is that everyone is on stand by for me to go into labour--everytime I don't I feel like I've let everyone down.

I feel the same way smilefull! Every time i call anyone, they answer the phone by asking, "are u in labor?" NOOOOO I"M NOT! So frustrating. I walked for about 4 hrs yesterday and the only result was swollen hands and feet! I barely had any cramps yesterday! How can this be?? So irritating. How can one day I be having contractions and the next day.....NOTHING. Oh, and then I bump into someone i know who tells me, "oh, so and so had her baby 3 weeks early, and she's so cute and blah blah blah. And, wasn't she like 3 weeks BEHIND you in the pregnancy?" Yes fantastic, i'm so happy for her that i could just pull all my hair out. GRRRRRRRRRRR

Aww swiss-chick i feel your pain! Every time i text or call my mum she has my dad out in the car with the engine running before she's even picked up the phone (caller ID). Her friends daughter was about 4 weeks behind me with her pregnancy with twins and she's just had hers on her own with no help. As much as i'm happy for her i find this highly unfair! I only have and want the one just now and for her to have 2 early is just not on!! I'll be having words with the man upstairs about that later.
