From what i understand, they hook ya up to the machines and stuff and give you something to make you have contractions...im being induced this week...they havn't really told me what all is going to happen..when they tell me, ill be sure to pa__s the info on to you..

I was induced. They took me in at 6am and gave me my IV and hooked me up to pitocin..They slowly took it up to make me go into "natural labor" and i was on the highest it would go for a while. It ended up breaking my water, and my daughter wasnt coming down much, when i was already at 8cm. Needless to say after all day of HARD labor, my daughter was born at 10:04PM by emergency C-section. Pitocin HURTS, because you dont work up into the contractions, it starts you off HARD.I swear i was climbing the bed in pain. If it gets too bad, remember you can get some pain med b4 you epi, ask for newbane....that stuff is AWESOME! they gave it to me, and it gave me a nice break from the horrid pain and let me sleep some. Best of luck, and remember, they are TOTALLY worth it. :)

I was induced. they had me come in at 6pm on the 10.11 put gel on my cervix to help it ripen, said that they would break my waters at 6am to get some sleep, but my waters broke at 11.30 pm on it's own. Had pethidine, gas and epi. and had my lil boy in my arms by 3.10 am. but i'm from Australia so mite be diff.

I went in to be induced TWICE!!! yes i know... the first time.. I booked into the hospital I was 9 days over and they put the gel on my cervix to soften.. the midwives all said.. oh you will definately go.. we have never seen a second time mum not start with the gel inserted... well.. after 4 doses and a very annoying restless night with everyone poking and proding NOTHING!!! and then the doctor came and saw me the next morning and he said the the babys head was too high and floaty for him to break the waters... THEY SENT ME HOME!!! I have never heard of anyone going in for an incution and getting sent home the next day WITHOUT a baby!!! it was so terrible... so then every day after I would have to go up and hospital and get the bub checked.. so much fun... the finally tried again 7 days later... all the midwives could not belive that the doctor had let me go for so long... but the little buggers head just wouldnt drop down and the Dr. was worried that the umbilical cord might come out first if he broke my waters.... Finally he broke my waters and that started it all off.. and then they put the drip in and wow intense... but it did work up for me and wasnt just straight into the major labor pains... I had a great birth it was 2 1/2 hrs with not pain relief at all.. the only thing that I didnt like is that you couldnt have a shower or go to the toilet easily because you had a drip attached...

i live in uk, was induced, gave me protaglandin tablet inserted next to cervix, 6 hours later another, 2 hours after second tablet i went into labour, if i hadnt then 12 hours from 2nd tablet they would have broken my water, if i still didnt go into labour they would have put me on a drip to start contractions
