I'm also 39 weeks today. I walked 2 miles a night for 4 nights in a row. Yesterday I cleaned like a mad women. Last night and today I really don't feel too well. I thought I'd get sick last night but I didn't. Now today I still feel sick and very lethargic. I guess I'll take it easy today.

I have been having regular contractions for over 3 months. Usually I go into preterm labor, however this time this little man wants to stay in. Because of a misscarriage prior to this preg. we don't have a good due date. According to my first US I am 36 weeks but my second US dates me at 38 + my son is weighing over 7 1/2 + lbs and 21 inches long now. My dr. says I can have him anytime. I am dialated to 2 and 50%. I usually go into hard labor at 4 cm. So I have been trying all the walking, s_x and having my husband strip my membranes daily...... My husband is in the medical field. The contractions I have been having for the past 2-3 weeks have been 5-6 min apart and hard and yet no change. The only day I had any change was after a night of having some flu like symptoms, go figure. I have prenatal testing 2 times a week and my OB once a week, needless to say they are watching me closely so I don't want to do the black cohosh which by the way usually does work for most people. I will however stop by the herbal store today and pick up the Red Raspberry leaf tea and see if that helps. WIsh me luck.

I am a Registered Nurse, and I've heard all of these before.... Castor Oil, S_x with Orgasm, Black or Blue Cohash, Rapsberry Tea, Walking and Nipple Stimulation. I have to tell you, some of them work, for some people, some of the time. But nothing works for everyone all of the time. I understand that 40 weeks can seem like forever, but God did intend for you to be pregnant for that long otherwise He would have made your gestation a lot shorter. To address the question, Castor Oil 2-4 TBSP in Orange Juice works by releasing prostaglandins and thereby causing contractions. It has some nasty side effects though, nausea, vomitting, and especially diarrhea. You should not take Castor oil if you have a high-risk pregnancy or if you have had a previous C-section, the contractions that may occur because of the Castor Oil could be extremely strong. Also, know this, if your cervix is not ready to dilate, then you'll just be extremely uncomfortable for a few hours and your contractions will stop and you'll be sent home from L&D. Nipple stimulation and s_x work by releasing oxytocin from the pituitary gland. Again, this can be effective if your cervix is ready to dilate. Black or blue cohash and other herbal remedies work because they simulate estrogen in the body and can cause contractions. Walking is extremely effective in progressing labor that is just beginning or even has been going for a while because it helps the baby put pressure down on the cervix and releases prostaglandins which stimuate labor. Ladies, I understand how you're feeling. Currently, I am 35 weeks and 6 days pregnant. This is the second time I have been pregnant in a year. My youngest daughter Emmalee is 11 months old and will be a year on May 13th. I never even got my period back when we found out we were expecting this little bundle. As tired as you are right now, know this-- you will be MORE tired in a short amount of time. Your baby has his or her birthday already picked out and they are well worth the wait. ANY and ALL of these "home remedies" for labor induction should be discussed with your health care provider prior to trying them out to be sure they are safe for you! Good luck to you all and God bless your new family.

I am 38 weeks pregnant and I know that when she is ready to come out she will, these things you guys gave listed does not work. Listen to your doctor, or risk your babies life. If you want to feel like you are helping bring on your labor do it that safe way have s_x or just walk.

I'm 38 weeks pregant, at 32 weeks, I went to the hospital to treat my early labor because I was 2 cm dilated and 50% effaced. Today, I am still 2 cm and 80% effaced and I want to go into labor. I'm scared the s_x will hurt the baby.

I am 40 weeks today, My husband and I have walked about 3 miles a day for the past 4 days and NOTING! I have menstrual like cramps but they are constant and go away when I walk around. The last checkup I had 5 days ago I was 1.5cm dialated and my cervix was soft and I was 50% effaced so I have no idea what I am doing wrong here. I have been crying for the past hour feeling like a failure! I don't want to do castor oil again because it just made me vomit last week when I did it. We have tried s_x and raspberry tea as well... The baby is also kicking me so hard I feel like she is going to come out of my belly b___ton! To all of you ladies who feel as miserable as I do right now, I wish i could hug you all

Ashley - May 21

Walking really helps, I went walking around a new community that was being built and climbed up and down stairs, did this for a few hours with my first pregnancy. Started at 11 am went into labor a little after 9 pm gave birth the next day. Right now I'm 39 weeks 4 days and I think I might just enjoy the peace and sleep before my son is born, I am in no rush. But I do hear Red Raspberry tea is good in conditioning the uterus for labor. Good Luck Mommies!

Everyone is different. Ive tried the bumpy roads, s_x, nipple stimulation, orgasms (by myself), scrubbing floors, walking ALOT, running up and down stairs, I havent tried tea how can that possibly work, Ive even have my membranes stripped Im dilated 3cm and 80% effaced contractions come and go but no baby yet. I refuse to try caster oil although my doctor suggested it I think he may be a moron because I read that it makes you sicker then a dog. I also read that it has the potential to hurt the baby. I dont know how true that is but It may be. S_x doesnt work but it feels good
