Anybody know what stripping the membranes means, and how it helps labor progress? I'm dialated to four and 80% effaced and the dr. stripped my membranes today. All of usudden my contractions are coming 15 min apart.

Its suppose to help you go into labor. You should always ask your doctor what he or she is doing when they do it and what it means just so you know in the future. But stripping of the membranes helps you to go into labor sooner
