Congrats Carrie.. Thats wonderful that someone is done.. LOL a happy healthy baby is great news. I dialated like that with my first they told me there is no way you went for 6-10 in a half and hour and i was like well i have to push so check it out. and i did. Well anywyas same old same old here. a couple contractions now and again, the worst pressure feeling in the world. I went for long walk last night decided to try the swinging on the swing thing... that just hurt in the end, and still no baby. So i wish you all luck and ill be hopin for a baby tonight.

Congrats Carrie! The same happened to me with my first. I was at 6cm. Within 15 minutes, the dr said I was complete and could start pushing. I didn't feel an urge to, but it felt so great I went with it. An hour and a half later, I had baby #1! Well, we pa__sed out due date yesterday and decided not to induce (it was tempting, though). We're going to try s_x again this morning and see if that will get things going. I am pretty optomistic, as that is what landed me in the hospital earier in the week (I've been too scared to try again since then!). We decided to try in the morning, so we won't be up all night waiting or laboring. Wow. Brings new meaning to "Planned Parenthood"!

Hey we have tried s_x every day and i have walked everyday everywhere. still nothing i had a couple of contractions yesterday about 5 25min apart then they disapeared. im sure ive lost my mucus plug it was kinda gross. so maybe the end is near. another dr. appt tomorrow maybe things will be closer to the end. or maybe i wont make it to the doc. My back hurts so bad and my abbs hurt like i have my period. IT IS SO HOT HERE. its 10am and already 27C Yesterday it was 37 when i went for my walk. it was gross. Oh i had a question. what is the maternity ward like in your hospital. they changed ours here because of cutbacks and now maternity and childrens ward are togather. so the same nurse that is delivery the baby is treating a kid down the hall with RSV or some other illness. it makes me kinda nervous. or maybe im just paranoid. it wasnt like that with the last two so it kinda wierds me out. i think that new born babys should be kept far away from those kinds of sicknesses. I wont let the baby out of my sight thats for sure.

I have never heard of combining wards like that. Last time, I gave birth at the hospital in my town and it was great-small ward and I was the only one to give birth there that day. Since then, they have closed down the local hospital's OB ward, so we're going to the regional hospital. It is bigger and newer, but of course has its own disadvantages... They don't share nurses or space with any other wards, though. I would think that would be difficult for the nurses to keep up with laboring patients and cranky, sick children! Back to the bringing on labor--we finally got up the courage to try s_x again yesterday and NOTHING! I have continued to have cramps, but that has been going on for about two weeks now, so I'm not getting excited any more! The doctor is letting me come in for half-week appointments now, so we'll see her tomorrow. I think I may try to wait it out until Friday (41 weeks) before trying induction. My body is getting so physically tired, though. I think labor may be more difficult, just because of the lack of energy. It sounds like your body is getting ready for labor with the contractions you're having. Good luck on your appointment tomorrow! Also, I have done my walking in the mall, so it isn't so hot. Also, our back-up plan has been to walk the aisles of the super wal-mart. I have been avoiding going outside as much as possible, especially to walk!

Any word from your dr appt, Alicia? We scheduled induction for Thursday morning. I am really relieved, as I am just worn out and ready for baby. She still could come before then, though, so we'll see,

I had so much fun reading this! I feel so much better. I have tried everything to get my baby girl out with no avail! I'm not due unitl 8-16, but my baby is an estimated 9lbs already and boy, does she feel like it! It's hot and humid here in the midwest and I am also just miserable! No more s_x with the hubby in the fall...I REALLY hate these summer pregnancies. (this is number two) Good luck to all!

Hi all I am pleased to announce that i did not make it to my dr. appt on tuesday. I began labour at 730 am tuesday morning. (please dont hate me) he was born at 1036 it was so fast i couldnt even believe it had happend. I had my frist contraction at 730 and i told my husband to go ahead and go to work. I had been having contractions for two weeks with nothing happening so i didnt think anything would be different this time. we live very close to his work so he left at about ten to eight. three seconds after he walked out the door i had another contracion. didnt think much of it bc it was only two contractions just about a half hour apart. within seven minutes there was the next so i called my husband at 5 after 8 and told him to come home. i called my mom and she came and got my kids. we got to the hospital a little after 9 and i was 5 cm he broke my water and at 920 i was 7 cm and at 945 i was 9 so they took me into the delivery room .. pushed for a bit but no progress so we left it alone for about 5 more contractions then three or four pushes and out came our baby boy. I couldnt belive it. my cousin says they come out like a water slide on the third but i didnt expect that at all. Anyways he was an 8lbs5ounce fat little boy and we named him Dilon Russell Stuart Smith. My husband went down to his work at about 1130 to tell them and they all laughed when he walked in thinking it had been a false alarm and he said nope i got a boy and they couldnt believe it. So we got home thursday evening and he is a pretty good little guy. My 5 year old boy is just in his glory to have a brother and my little girl who is 20 months thinks he is her baby. so there is no jelousy YET. hopefully it stays like that. well katharine I hope your doing okay and you and your baby are healthy and happy. I hope your labour wasnt bad. i was induced with my first but it was pretty quick too. let me know how things are going.

Hey Alicia. I guess we both got lucky with quick labors and deliveries. I guess those weeks of "practice" cramps and conrtractions really did help us when it came time to really have our babies! I put up my whole story on the General Preg Questions board, but basically-had my water broken at 9:20 last Thursday morning, and at 12:39, we had a beautiful baby girl! 3 hrs, 20 mins. Not bad, except that the quick labor had certain drawbacks. Well, I'm fighting engorgment (new UGH!), so I'm gonna try to wake up the baby and feed her AGAIN! Good luck and see you on the infant board, I guess!
