for me the pain was worse than I imagined,i kept thinking it could not get worse, pain meds made me sick, the epidural did not take,it was horrendous,at one point I felt like my legs were being ripped apart, honestly, they cut me on my next contraction, said I would not feeel it,I did,and afterwards.By contrast, for me the 2nd was an elected c-section,I could not go through that again, and I am glad I chose that.

I havent lost my water yet, but I think I lost my mp. I was just wondering shouldnt my water have broke before having contractions? and how do i know when it's the "real deal"? Any help would be appreciated, thanks a bunch xxxx

I have two children. Is there a injection to stop contrations and if it's safe.

You can absolutely have contractions before your water breaks. Most women don't have their water break until they are at least 6 cm dialated!! Stay relaxed and breath deeply. If you get in the bath and the contractions don't go away, it is the real deal. Remember to have faith in your body. You were designed to give birth naturally...without medication or intervention. You are a strong women and birth is a strong experience. Many Blessings

I have three children, and I am now pregnant with my fourth. My contractions felt like a band across my abdomen progressively getting tighter and tighter and then it would ease up and was gone. A few minutes later it would start again. The contractions lasted approx 30 to 60 seconds. I had an epidural with my second child and loved it!!! I felt nothing. It was great!! I had my third child without any medication at all, because by the time I got to the hospital, I was already completely effaced and dialated and ready to have the baby. The actual birth was incredibly painful. With this child, I'm going for an epidural again, but reading up on breathing techniques, so if I can't get medicated, atleast I can handle the pain on my own. Hope this helps!!!

I'm 40 weeks and 6 days and have only recently started feeling what I think must be contractions. It does feel like very intense menstrual pain and at the moment only lasts for 20-30 secs. They occur every 5-10 min, but sometimes they dissapear for 30 mins. Using my TENS machine seems to help a bit. I suppose they could be braxton hicks, but I really hope they are contractions..

my labour pains were like a really bad period as well as needing the toilet, as i was pushing my son out it just felt like a big poo, thats the only way i can describe it ! i had no pain relif at all.

I'mpregnant with my third child and due in April. The pain with my two felt like a really bad bowel movement alond with period cramps and someone grabbing my inside and squeezing really hard all at the same time. Not to scare you at all, but it really does hurt. When it's all over though you forget all about the pain and enjoy the moment you hold your baby. I was in labor both times for 5 hours and only the last hour was the hardest. . I didn't receive any medications I heard it slows your labor down sometimes. Just know in the end it so worthwhile. Enjoy your new baby and rememeber to take lots of pictures during labor process if possible cause when it's all over you'll want ot know what happened. My husband took pictures the whole time. From the time we got there until the cord was being cut. I can see everything it's great.

alright, this is how i will describe how it felt. to me it felt like a wave from midway up my back down and around my tummy. i could really feel the wave every time. when it comes to the baby coming out, it just feels like stretching, and for some, tearing. it is VERY painful at that point. its weird because i can remember what it felt like, but i don't remember exactly HOW BAD the pain was... i just remember not wanting to go threw that again for a long time...

No pain... - January 20

I think any one who goes through a natural birth is really crazy - all these horror stories u hear all the time about what happened - what could have happened - the intense pain - will women ever wake up and smell the coffee - mothers are amazing people - but they dont need medals for how they gave birth nor how long they were in labour nor for what medication they did or did not opt to use - have a caesarian - 45 minutes of planned birth time - less risk to your baby - I've done it twice - works like a dream - I mean would u go to the dentist and have a wisdom tooth out without an anasthetic then????? Oh I know I'm going to get loads of criticism on this one - but really folks - do yourselves a favour - professional fun loving working mother to very happy healthy babies......

I just had mine. Had an epidural and from 4 cm to 10 cm I was pain free! It wore off 3 times tho (and they were quick to come fix it thank God, lol). So for me..... contractions come in waves and feel like a bad menstral cramp. But from 9.5 to 10cm on me they changed. At that point I felt no crampng at all but a desperate urge to pee at start of contactions and poop at the end of it (I think it's supposed to make you feel like pooping but baby's head was on my bladder and I felt both). It's a very intense pressure. I dunno how people do this without epidurals, lol. When my spi was working I felt absolutely NO pain. And when it wore off, OUCH! But thankfully they were fast about upping the med int he drip for me. :D I had a great experience!

I will answer the question to how a contraction feels...It is like a menstral cramp. If you have ever had bad menstral cramps that come and go. It is like that and then they continue to progress to longer cramps and more painful. But with every pain you know that it will go away in a little bit and you can take a breather before the next one. Does that answer your question...anyone agree with me?
