If this is your first baby... yes you will go past your due date. I think they say 7 out of 10 babies come past the date. Some doctors don't even think your over due until your past 42 weeks. You won't alway see your plug pa__s. I am on baby number three and I never saw my mucus plug. Contrations vs. water breaking. You will usually have some small contracions just before you water breaks. They tend to get more intense once your water breaks. Now days it seems the doctors always break the water bag. It's been a while since I knew someone who' s water broke on their own. I am a couple of weeks behind you and I pray every day that I go into labor early! Hang in there... It will seem like the longest month in your life, but you will have your baby soon. Good luck!

If your water breaks you can wait a few hours for contractions to start but you need to have your baby within 24 hours after that due to the risk of infection. If your waters break at home go to the hospital within 6 hours to be checked. I wish you luck.

With my second son, my water broke and I didn't have any contractions for hours afterwards. If your water does break make sure you call your dr to see what they suggest you to do. I wouldn't wait past a few hours after my water breaks before I go to the hosp. even if I'm not having contractions just to make sure everything is ok.
