Aloha Everyone!
I just found out on Thursday that I was 12 weeks pregnant. I was beyond shocked. I felt a slight cramp on my left side, kind of like it felt before a period.. nothing really sharp but like someone was poking me lightly. I went to the ER and they tried to pick up the heartbeat with the doppler, but said I might only be 11 weeks so it wasn't picking up. They then did an ultrasound and showed me the baby, and I saw it move in place. So I know the baby is alove, but is the slight cramp normal. I go in on Monday for an ultrasound and I don't know what to expect. I am scared of losing the baby, because I am still under 20 weeks. Is there anytime where you are not so much at risk to have a miscarriage? Any suggestions would really help me out. I am 22 years old, and so this is really shocking to me. Thanks!

From everything I've read 12 weeks is when your risk for miscarriage is lowered, so it looks like you'll be just fine. All the best to you and baby. I'm 11 weeks myself and been cramping too. Don't worry about it. My doc says its totally normal.

No worries, I had slight cramping all through my first trimester and some of my second too! If it is in your side that is more normal (something called round ligament stretching-it may become more painful as the pregnancy goes on!) My doctor said that it is perfectly normal to cramp in the first trimester and early in the second becuase all your stomach muscles are stretching and your body is preparing to hold an even bigger baby later on! I am now 26 weeks and have a healthy little baby kicking inside me. If you start spotting that is when I would begin worrying, although I know it is hard not to worry at everything during pregnancy. Good luck!
