7 Weeks Pregnant Empty Sac

Jampa, Don't do anything yet. Just wait a few more weeks and have another ultrasound later.

Jampa- I agree with Ana..... wait for 2 more weeks (if possible) and have another ultrasound done. If they heard a faint heartbeat then something "should" be there. I don't understand how an "empty sac" will give out a faint heartbeat. But, if you start cramping REAL bad, I would go straight to the hospital for a D&C, because its so much easier than going thru a natural m/c at 12 weeks along. Best of luck!!

Hello ladies... first of all... thanks so much for everyone who has posted, it has helped me to understand what I am in for. I am 30 and this is our first pregnancy, I should be 8w2d. I went for my first u/s yesterday..the sac was empty and measuring 6w2d. I kept asking where the baby was..with no response from the tech. The Dr said that I may not have ovulated in 14 days after my period. It could have been later, not to worry just yet. I go back for another u/s next Thursday to check again. I am waiting for blood work as I type this. I just cried and cried, i knew I was suppose to see something on the u/s, I am stunned and in shock. I just want to lay in bed and try to protect myself. Keep your fingers crossed until next week.

Hi everyone! DH and I have been TTC for 1 month. (ttc for 6 months last year but gave up). I did my round of clomid. This past weekend I was feeling as if I was getting cramps, so I figured that I was getting AF. I decided to do a HPT so that I can rule out being PG. Well it came back +! I was still cramping a bit and I had a bit of spotting (very very light). I went to the dr today and they did a test too, which also came back +. Dr. said that due to my last period, that I am about 5 1/2 weeks pg. He decided to do an ultrasound to see how far along I really am. He did a v____al ultrasound and he could not see a sac. I am really scared that I am not pg. We have been trying for so long. I know that I can't be 5 1/2 weeks pg. I ovulated around the 12-15 of august. He said that it could be too soon to see anything in the ultrasound. He tested my hormone levels and I have to get a second one done on sat. If my levels go up, then he'll repeat the ultrasound in a week, if they go down, then he'll have to do a dnc. Could it be that it's just too soon to see the sac or am I just getting my hopes up? I am still cramping now, but no more spotting. I think the cramps are now from the ultrasound stick. Please help me, I am extremely terrified!!! Sorry about the long post!

DIANA___ OK, I know my exact day from conception... so, take this from me.... I conceived on Aug 20th... On Aug. 31st, I found out I was pregnant and went to the hospital. My HCG was 132 that day and they couldn't find anything in the uterus on the ultrasound (so, I was afraid of another ectopic) I went back on Sep 2nd (46 hours later) and my HCG was 370.. So, more than doubled. On Sep 8th I had my next ultrasound and what a difference one week makes. Sure enough there was definitely a sac and activity going on in it. Whether it is one or two babies but 100% at least one. Seen the yolk and everything. And I was only 3 weeks from conception. but, they call it 5 weeks gestation.. DR. said that they can only see something in the uterus on the ultrasound when your HCG hits 2000. So, it may have been too early for you. That same day (Sep 8th) my HCG went up to 4467... So, my numbers are tripling, not doubling... Just go back for another u/s in one week. You will see what one week makes.

Daniella, Thank you so much for all of your words! You will not believe how much better I felt today after reading your response. I did get my results from my first hcg test and it was a 29. Is that too low? I go for my 2nd one tomorrow morning and I won't find out until monday. The long wait is going to kill me but I'll have to find stuff to keep my mind occupied. Again, thank you so much for all of your inspiring words!!!

Daniella - September 9

No, its not low.... it just means your pregnant ;) hehe.... and very early AND that explains why they didn't see it in the uterus... If it was 29 then in 2 days it should be about 60... and 2 days after that, about 120... Keep doubling.. and when you figure its about 2000... is when they will see something in the uterus. :) Let us know what they came back with

Diana - September 10

Daniella-Again thank you so much! I think you might be my guardian angel! Your words ease me so much! I went for my second hcg test today. It's gonna kill me to not find out until monday. What really scares me now are the cramps? Are they normal? I guess I should try not to worry so much. Here's my email if you would like to email me, or anyone else if you need to talk: Diana91576@yahoo.coom. Thanks again.

Diana - September 10

Oops! That's .com not .coom!!! Baby is sucking my brain cells already!!! hehehe : )

Diana_ why is it going to take that long for your HCG results to come back? I get mine the same day. They say to give it about 2 hours. Yea, the waiting game is so hard. But, I will say that as long as your not bleeding, you should be OK... out of the 3 m/c's I've had, I didn't have any cramp type pains and this one (the best one going so far) I am having pain.. They said that it could just be my ovaries from the hormone production. My mom and monther in law, and other lady's I know, said that they had real bad pain early in the pregnancy. So..... I wouldn't worry unless it gets soooo bad or you start bleeding.

Diana - September 11

Well my doctor was not in yesterday to have my results read to me and they are not open today(sunday). so I have to wait until tomorrow. Luckily I have a wedding shower to go to today, so that at least will keep my mind occupied for a little while. Can you tell this is my 1st pregnancy? So many questions.

Daniella - September 11

Diana_ it could be your first or your 4th (like me) pregnancy, and you will always have questions. This is my forth pregnancy and hopefully first successful one. Keep posted once you find out your results. Real quick question... why in Gods name did your doctor give you clomid if you haven't been trying that long to conceive and this is your first pregnancy? ANyhow... Im not sure how long in between your HCG levels that were tested... but, I would say that are results will be about 70 if you took your second test about 48 hours after the first. Best of luck!!! :)

Diana - September 11

Well he gave me clomid because my periods are not regular. So I have no clue when I ovulate. That is the only reason why he put me on it. 48 hours sounds right because the 1st one was thurs. Maybe a little less than 48 hrs. I will keep you posted though. Thinking happy thoughts!!!

Daniella - September 11

A good dr. wont give clomid because of an irregular period, ONLY if you are "known" not to ovulate. There are many side effects with it and may cause these cramps you had been complaining about. Anyhow.... you are now pregnant so, best wishes!!! Even though, I think you would have without having to take drugs for it. ;) hehe... I can't wait to hear your levels tomorrow. I still say it will be at least 70. :)
