Lori- please don't stop posting... This forum kept me going strong when I lost mine. Its so hard to go thru but we are here for you. Are they going to run test when they do the D&C?? and is this your first m/c?? I just want to tell you that one out of four pregnancies don't quite make it. Please don't get discouraged. I know easier said then done... But, you are so fertile after a loss that, that is actually the best time to get pregnant again. Ask for your HCG tested the day you have your D&C. Please post afterwards.... You will be in my prayers!!!

Daniella, I don't need to have a D&C anymore because I miscarried at about 1:30 PM today. I was cramping really bad for a couple of hours it hurt so bad, and was so scared because not only did I have my daughter with me but I was babysitting my 4yr niece and 6mn nephew and my husband was at work. Luckily I had a friend near by to come and sit with me and the kids until my mother, husband and sister all arrived at about 1:45 PM. I went to the bathroom to clean up before I went to the OB and that's when it happened.I went straight to the OB he did an U/S and said I had pa__sed everything but alittle bit of tissue and blood. He gave me a script to pa__s the blood and tissue and within 4-6 weeks he said I should have a regular period and can try again after that. I was officially 12 weeks PG. It's strange, I was PG yesterday, but today I'm not. I do have to admit I feel a little bit releaved that it's over with. The idea of the D&C was scaring me and the idea of carrying a baby that was not alive was agony. Atleast I can rest now and breath again. My mind hopefully won't be consumed by the question is the baby ok or not. I have the answer as ugly as it is and now I can look to the future. Talk to you soon.

Lori- Actually a D&C only takes about 10 to 15 minutes and its real good. Sounds scary, but it cleans everything out and you hardly have any bleeding because they cleaned you all out. But, since you m/c on your own, then that works too. Although, if they did the D&C then they can run test on what you pa__sed. Just to see if it was a chromosome problem. More likely it was. I'm so sorry you had to go thru this and I am glad that now you can rest. Please have your dr. test your HCG down to 0. Some doctors say that once you m/c then there is no point. But, I will tell you along with many other woman that will agree.... you should get it checked down to at least >5. Oh, and if your TTC again... once your HCG hits 0, you ovulate that week. Usually just days after. So, if your HCG went down to 0 today, I'd say tomorrow or the next you would ovulate. Just another reason to get it check down to 0. My HCG was down to 5.45 exactly 4 weeks after my D&C. (I was about 12 weeks and my HCG was about 10,000 when I had the surgery)... Anyhow, 5 days after that day it was at 5 I ovulated and got pregnant. All my lady friends that went thru a miscarriage said the same thing. As soon as their HCG was all the way back down they conceived. Its like clockwork. So, weird. But, its true. So, Good luck!!

It's so great to come on line & see so many of you have been through just what I am experiencing right now. I'm 8 weeks along with baby #3 & went in for my u/s today to see what appears to be an empty sack. I'm super bummed but thanks to all of the responses that were similar to my story but ended up with happy endings. I now see a bit of a silver lining. I guess we'll see in a couple of days. Thanks so much for sharing ladies!

Buffy- Are you 100% sure when you ovulated and conceived?? Or are they just going off of your LMP (last menstral period)?? What is your HCG at now and are they doubling every 48 hours?? If you give me your Email, I can send you my ultrasound pic at 7 weeks 5 days. I know my exact date of conception, so that is exactly what it should look like for that.

HI. I had a scan 4 days ago. I thought I was 6w 6d. They saw a sac and a yolk sac but no fetal pole. They didn't seem too worried as they said it could be just too early to tell and that I have to go back in 2 weeks for rescan. Staff nurse said that it is def. a better sign to see a yolk sac cos this could mean earlier than I think. If there hadn't been a yolk sac it would have been worse. Could anyone tell me - If i found out i was pregnant on 19th of a month, when is the latest I could have conceived? Please pray for me cos so desperate for this little one x

Nat- well, are they testing your HCG?? because if they doubling like they should every 48 hours.. then that is a very good sign. If your HCG isn't doubling and they don't see a fetal pole, then thats a high indication of a miscarriage. SO, you kinda need both... Especially when you are early. At my 5 week 6day scan we seen the fetal pole, yolk sac and heartbeat (flicker) on the screen. So, you may have conceived later than you thought. I wish you so much luck at your next scan. Hopefully the baby was just playing hide and seek. hehe.... Also, my just about 8 week scan showed the yolk sac also. SO, it stays for about that long. And yes, it is a good sign. Anyhow, the main thing right now (since its too early on the scan) is what is your HCG at and are they doubling??

It is so rea__suring to see that so many other women are going through what I'm going through right now! It gives me hope... Thisis my 2nd pregnancy. I am 6 w 2 d and went in for a u/s today - empty sac. The did a blood test for HCG, so I should find out my levels tomorrow. I have to go back in 3 weeks for another u/s. I don't know if I can take waiting that long. I feel fine, but with normal symptoms of pregnancy (tender b___sts, etc.)... Thanks to everynoe for your stories! They give me some hope!

Yea, 6 weeks is too early to worry. Most dr's don't do your first scan until 12 weeks.

Thanks for replying Daniella. They're not doing HCG checks as said I would still have to have scan and they think that it is just something else to worry about. They want me to just wait it out. I phoned the EPU today to see what my sac was measuring when I went for last scan. They said 6w 3d -I thought 6w 6d so pretty accurate. Nurse said could still be out by couple of days. Machine they used wasn't great and some people apparently still don't see much at this time. Hoping mine is just a slow starter or a hider!!. Feeling really positive. Still feeling very sick and pregnant. I have had no bleeding and no sign of miscarriage. Did you bleed early before you miscarried? Did you know anything was wrong? XX

Nat- actually almost ALL doctor offices run your HCG... that is a guarantee of how your pregnancy is going. I would definitely tell them that you want them to check your levels. I've never heard of them not. I work in the medical field and its usually protocol as soon as a patient comes in for a new pregnancy. It can also help clear up if you have an ectopic. You can still have a sac and yolk sac in the uterus even if you have an ectopic. Well, I don't know... but, I would definitetly have them check your HCG. Regardless of the ultrasound. I lost my last pregnancy at about 13 weeks. I never had any bleeding at all, and I had all the pregnancy symptoms. But, my HCG was not doubling the way it should. It was just barely going up so they new something wasn't right. If they weren't checking my HCG along with the scan we wouldn't have as clear of an idea. The fetal pole was there on mine, it just wasn't measuring how it should and it wasn't growing as it should. The sac was always to date. It was the fetal pole that wasn't. There was also a heartbeat, but when that finally stopped is when I had a D&C. Because a non-vitable pregnancy can stay in you up to 4 or more weeks before you miscarry. I didn't want to wait everyday for the bleeding to start. So, I had the D&C.
