My baby was just diagnosed by ultrasound (I am 17 weeks) with a two vessel cord and an echogenic marker on his heart. My doctor recommended an amniocentesis, which I had last Friday.
I am so nervous and scared about the results has anyone had any similar experiences? I am only 33 and both my husband and I are in excellent health.

I had an amnio and I was sick all night the night before but really it wasn't that bad. It was quick and painless. It did require that I rest for 24 hours afterwards and then I was fine. I think the most painful part was the two week waiting period to get my results. I had a baby two years ago with a two vessel cord and he is healthy as a horse. They did some tests on him and ultrasounds on his kidneys and bladder. He was just fine. The risk of miscarriage with amnios is only around 1%. Good luck ladies and I hope that my story will give you the strength to get through this. God bless your babies.

They found a calcium spot on my babies heart and they also found 2 choroid plexus cysts. I am 24yo- but we still did amnio because of the combination of the two. I got my preliminary results back 8 days after amnio- and I got the full results a week later. I had minor pains the day of- but only when I was bending over (picking up my toddler's toys). My results were good- I am sure yours will be too. Then you can finally get some rest . . . I have a friend who just found out that her baby has a calcium spot on her heart too.
