I have a possibility that the doctors are going to take my baby out before term, at approximately 35 weeks gestation. He will be just over 3 lbs. Anyone else had a very small baby? with a good outcome? I need some encouragement!

My second son was at 4 weeks early, and he weighed almost 6 lbs. much to everyone's surprise! His b___st muscle tissue hadn't developed yet, but it did later without problems. My cousin's baby was 6 weeks early at about three pounds, he is a strong 1 1/2 year old now. He did stay in the hospital for a while to gain weight, and she b___stfed him 100% the whole time which helped. Medicine is saving babies who way 1 lb now, I think you're baby will do great!

Hi Chelsey, my older brother was born prematurely. My mum had nearly 3 months still to go when he arrived and he weighed 2 lbs 13oz. He was in the special nursery for a while and survived and is a healthy adult now. In fact other than having asthma and being more prone to colds/infections as a child he has been healthy since! The other thing is his early birth was 31 years ago and now they are even more skilled at helping little ones when they arrive early than they were then! I have read alot of encouraging reports on the excellent care medics can offer premature babies. I'm sure your little one will be just fine though I appreciate it must be hard not to worry. Take care and blessings to you and your baby xxx
