When I was approx. 14 weeks pregnant I was exposed to chickenpox via my 4yr old nephew. I told my OB who seemed to not be worried since I HAD THEM when I was about 12. I'm now 16 weeks and covered with what my family doctor says is in fact chickenpox. I am so scared. Any thoughts??

I had chicken pox when i was 6 weeks pregnant. i was covered with chicken pox all over my body, especially my face. the dr told me that if something bad wa going to happen then i will m/c.but i didn't and i have a very beautiful and smart boy. I know how you feel. i felt like that for the whole nine month until i saw him in my arms. i hope you will be fine. i think it is whatever god wants. good luck.

Thanks for your thoughts it makes me feel a little better, and you are right...it is whatever God wants and we will love this baby no matter what happens.

I've read that chicken pox are more a concern when maternal infection occurs close to term, so that should be of some comfort. Also, if your Dr. knows about your situation and isn't concerned, you should try to be positive as well. If it was of major concern, you would have to get innoculated. Try and be positive and get as much info from you Dr as you need to be rea__sured. I suffered from severe chicken pox last year and went nearly insane with them. I sympathize with anyone with them, especially a pregnant woman. This should be a very happy time for you, not a time of worry. Good luck and take care of yourself. Remember they should be gone in apox. 10 days. (and don't scratch!)
