Eight Weeks And Nothing Seen In The Vaginal Ultrasound

Hi, I currently have an 11 year old daughter and I had a miscarriage about two years ago. I am now pregnant again and just went for my first eight week visit to the doctor today. They did a va___al ultrasound and my doctor said that he could not see anything. He had pointed out a couple areas where it is possible that the fetus may be, but he wasn’t sure. I had to go and get a blood test today, which is Friday, and I have to go back again to get another blood test on Monday to determine if I am still pregnant. The doctor said that it is possible that I may be pregnant but not be as far along as I thought. It is either that, or the other possibility is that I am going to have miscarriage again. I am hoping and praying that I am still pregnant and that I am just not as along as a thought, but I am fearful of another miscarriage. If anyone has any thoughts of some good news that might help ease my nerves. I will be SO grateful!

I did IVF so I was sure of my dates. You should see the sac, the yolk, a fetal pole and/or heartbeat around 5-8 weeks. Sometimes you will see one without the other. Thats ok. My doctors say 5 weeks is the earliest anything will show and if you havent seen anything by 8 weeks...its not a good pregnancy. I was 7 weeks 5 days, and still had an empty sac on u/s this past wed. I chose to have a dnc. Did it 3 days ago. I will just try again next month. Its my 3rd miscarriage....and its extremely hard emotionally, but I know someday I will be a mommie, so I keep that in my head! Good luck to you!

Go to the site misdiagnosedmiscarriage.com and you will read quite a few stories where babies didn't show up until quite late. Hope that helps.
