There is a sign posted on my son's school door saying that there was reported case of fifth's disease and pregnant women should not come in the building. I was in the building twice before knowing I was pregnant. I don't know anything about fifth's disease so any info would be greatly appreciated.

There is some info at http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/diseases/parvovirus/B19&preg.htm. It looks like in some rare cases, it can cause problems (i.e., if mom is one of the 50% of women not already immune, there is less than a 5% chance of miscarriage). Apparently, this is more common in the 1st half of pregnancy. The vast majority of the time, the baby is not affected, and even if a mom gets sick, it is usually only a mild illness. Your doctor/midwife can do a blood test to see if you were already immune or, if not, whether you have been exposed. The greatest likelihood is that you and your baby will be fine. Talk with your doctor/midwife to see what they say too.
