High HCG 5 3 Weeks No Yolk Sac

OK, I went in for an u/s at what I believe to be 5 weeks 2 days (I chart, so I know my ovulation date and implantation date) and only saw a gestational sac (no yolk sac). My hcg was 9,500. This concerned my doctor greatly. He believes it is ectopic, but also said it could be twins. Does anyone have any thoughts or information on this? I have another u/s next week, but in the meantime, I am going nuts!!

wouldn't they know if it was ectopc by the u/s? it wouldn't be in your uterus then...I had mine on mon. 5w5d and saw gestational sac and yolk sac but nothing else, they said it was too early to tell and to come back in a week...maybe its just that, too early? they told me that it was in my uterus and not ectopic though, I had asked b/c of cramps I was having...let me know!

you can't tell an ectopic by ultrasound, are you having any cramping? i wouldn't get all stressed, that won't help and could cause more harm than good

What a coincidence. It appears that I have a very similar situation. I think I'm at 5 weeks 2 days, which I also know via charting, and my hcg was 11,000 or so. My doctor was also concerned, and I'm getting another blood test in two days followed possibly by another u/s.
How would twins relate to the yolk sac?
