No Heart Beat At 10 1 2 Weeks

My Dr is telling em to go for an ultrasound immediatly, I am only 10.5 weeks and there is no heart beat. I am sure of my due date and she did say my uterus is larger than normal. What could be wrong?

How did they check for the baby's heartbeat? Because at 10.5 weeks it is very hard to hear with a fetal heart doppler. Try not to worry too much and go in for the ultrasound. Let me know how it goes and I'll be praying for you. God Bless!!

I agree with Mindy -- dont get to worried. usually they don't even TRY to hear a heartbeat until at least 12 weeks and sometimes it takes til week 14 to hear anything. Then you have the whole "baby is running from doppler" thing going on and sometimes it's just hard to find it when they're so tiny. The ultrasound will be better. They pick up the noises better and they can SEE the heartbeat to measure it.

An ultrasound will be able to pick up a heartbeat by 10 weeks usually sooner than that, though a doppler will take longer too. It depends how they were looking for the heartbeat. As the previous person pointed out an ultrasound can see the heartbeat so can detect it much much sooner than a doppler can. I hope when they try looking again they will find it. I lost my baby when they had no heartbeat at 9 weeks. They were also too small only measuring 7 1/2 weeks. Is you baby the right size for their age? I wish you good news at your ultrasound Laura.
