Potential Cervical Incompetence

I am 6 weeks pregnant. Before conceiving, my doctor told me that I might have problems conceiving and carrying a baby to term. I have had three procedures on my cervix due to dysplasia. My cervix is now scarred and shorter than a normal cervix. My doctor described a procedure that can be done, placing a st_tch in my cervix. Has anyone had this procedure or known anyone who has. This is my first pregnancy. There is no gurantee that my cervix will be incompetent, but I don't want to find out at 20 weeks that it is. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hey girl. I had a cerclage with my second baby. (I went into labor at 5 mo. with my first baby who barely survived. All that could have been avoided if I had had a cerclage with him.) It's not a painful procedure. I had a spinal block for pain, which was unpleasant but only because it feels really weird not to be able to feel half of your body. I am pregnant again and have to have a cerclage again. The peace of mind that I did everything in my power to make ensure my baby was healthy will make everything worth it. (Be sure that they check you for scar tissue before you go into labor. Scar tissue from the cerclage can make delivery very painful!)

I lost my first pregnancy at 22 weeks due to an incompetent cervix. I had my cerclage for my next two pregnancies (put on around 12 weeks) and delivered a two beautiful baby boys. It was what I could do to keep my baby and worth the peace of mind. By all means have one put on and don't risk the loss.
