I am currently pregant for the second time with a history of pre-term labor with my first child. One of my Doctors has recommended that I start 17P-Progesterone Therapy by taking injections weekly with this drug. There has been alot of studies showing positive results in delaying preterm labor. I am a little nervous about starting since it is a fairly new procedure and some Doctor's do not have a lot of history in using this Drug. THe Doctor that recommended this treatment has an excellent reputation and highly recommends this. He also said that there were not reported side effects for the mother or child. Blue Cross Blue Shield pays for this treatment and so does Coventry. I am having a hard time with my Health Insurance in covering the cost of this drug since it is fairly new. Can anyone give me any advice or experiences they may had with this treatment? I am a little nervous starting the treatment since my OB-Gyn does not have alot of experience with this drug.

I'm also looking for those same answers, I have a history of pre-term rupture of membranes & the specialist I consulted seems like this drug was created for woman just like me. I wish I knew more people that have taken the injections.I'm pg with my 7th, I have 6 angels, 4 lost in the late 2nd trimester. I'm 8wks and have not had a real first appt, that's Aug 1st. He suspects that treatment will begin wk 13 - wk36 with weekly injections. My insurance is giving me a hard time also & won't pay for the shots. I really am confused and worried. i would appreciate any tips or advise or just to chat with someone who knows.
