Can anyone tell me if you can have multiple successful pregnancies if you are Rh-? I had an abortion was I was younger. I received the rhogam shot, but I have read that the first pregnancy is easiest for Rh- women. I am unsure about subsequent ones. My husband is Rh+.
Thank you for any information

I'm Rh - too. I had a miscarriage and am possibly going to have a second one (it sucks waiting...) I'm not sure what my bf's blood is, as he has not had his tested yet (he's going in next week). I had a shot of rhogan the first time, and just received a second one two days ago when complications started. As far as I know, you shouldn't need a shot until you're in your 20 -23rd week of pregnancy.

When you get the Rhogham shot after the first pregnancy, it is keep you from developing antibodies to RH+ blood to protect the next pregnancy. When pregnant again they give the shot around 28 weeks or anytime there is bleeding during the pregnancy, and again after delivery. I am also RH- and also an RN and work in this field. As long as the shot is given at the appropriate times all subsequent pregnancies will be safe

Thank you both for your responses. Audrea, you would be surprised at how much trouble I have had getting a straight answer about this from my doctor!

I am Rh- as well and my husband has Rh+. The doctor told me not to worry cause i'm only 14 weeks along and that he will speak to me in detail when i'm 20 weeks about it. Does this shot guarentee everything will be okay (God willing) if givien at the appropriate time?

Sana, I have been repeatly a__sured that there are few additional risks if you receive the shot. I hope all goes well with your pregnancy.
