I am addicted to cigarettes and tried to quit when I became pregnant; however, I was unable to quit. What are the possible damages that this can cause?

Hi worried and kat, i'm not a fellow smoker but i am a nurse so what i can tell you is that it is not good for you baby. i dont wanna scare you but some of the side effects of smoking while pregnant include; miscarriages, still births, low infant birth weight, and sudden infant death syndrome. You should keep trying to quit for your baby! But it is important to remember not to do it cold turkey!!! your baby is as addicted to them as you! so slowly start cutting back and you can always talk w/ your doctors about different programs and such. i wish you both the best of luck!
