I am about 7 weeks along in my first pregnancy and am having quite a bit of spotting. This happened a week ago and everything was fine. I am not experiencing any cramping or passing of clots. Why am I still bleeding?

Courtney, Spotting in early pregnacy is quite common. In and of itself, it shouldn't cause anyone to panic. Your dr. will consider how your HCG numbers are doing, as well as ultrasound results. At 7 weeks, there should be evidence of the pregnacy on ultrasound and if your Hcg numbers are doubling every few days and you have all your pregnacy symptoms (i.e. sore b___sts, nausea, frequent urination), sometimes spotting just happens. I had a friend who bled throughout her entire pregnacy and has a healthy baby girl. But if you continue to spot, and you haven't already had one, demand an ultrasound. Seeing a heartbeat will give you the piece of mind it sounds like you need right now. Keep us posted.

Thank you for your input. We did, however, end up losing the baby this week. I hope this does not happen to anyone else as it has been very hard for be to deal with. How can you get so attached to your unborn child after only knowing for only 5 weeks. We just have to keep the faith and pray that it does not happen again. Thank you again for your help and if there is anyone who would like to talk about this please contact me. Hopefully I can be of some help to someone. Good luck to everyone.
