Suddenly Losing Pregnancy Symptoms

My wife and I found out recently that she was pregnant. This is our second. When we went for our first OBGYN visit, we estimated we were at 6 weeks, but the Dr. couldn't see the heartbeat or fetal pole on a vagainal u/s and wasn't sure if our dates were off or if there was a problem. She had my wife do blood test to check the hCG levels and they were not doubling as expected. We went for another u/s a few days later at a different location and the technician said the baby was small, but that he could see the heartbeat. He said the machine couldn't quite pick up the audio though. Because of the faint heartbeat and low hCG levels, the Dr. has been very pessimestic about our chances. We are scheduled for another u/s in 3 days but today suddenly my wife's morning sickness has vanished. For the past week or so she has been very tired and nauseas, but suddenly it went away. We're scared that means something happened to the baby. We don't fully trust our Dr. and went ahead an scheduled with another Dr. (who said the heartbeat wouldn't show until 8 weeks!), but now were scared she might miscarry. She hasn't had any cramping or bleeding, but we're still worried.
