I am writing this just to give info and to see if anyone else has been through this.. i was on clomid and intrauterine insemination and then became pregnant right away.. on first ultrasound d/t spotting at 5.5 weeks noted a healthy baby with strong heartbeat and a small sac dr stated was possibly a hematoma type thing d/t implantation of the placenta.. at 8 weeks went back for followup and spotting gone now, noted two babies with strong heartbeats (two sacs) but one sac was much smaller and baby measured at only 6.5 weeks. then returned at 9.5 week follow up and noted one strong healthy baby with 178 heartbeat and second baby dead and much smaller. dr. called it a vanishing twin that is being absorbed now... anyone else gone through similar thing?? i am now 11 weeks and baby doing well.. going back in for next ultrasound in a week and a half to follow up to make sure 2nd baby absorbed....

Becky - Congratulations on your pregnancy. I haven't been through this but did IVF-ICSI and also got pregnant first-time and was told that losing a twin early on was not uncommon after IVF. The other baby will be fine. I watched a programme on IVF and one of the women had the same as you - her twin died at 10 weeks as the heartbeat was too weak and it was too small to survive. She then gave birth to a healthy baby at full-term. Best wishes.
