Wondering About The Loss Of The Baby Or Tissue

I'm experiencing a miscarriage and have been bleeding for six days and the last 3 days clots. I have looked through everything trying to find the baby, but haven't found anything but blood clots until today... a clump about the size of a tennis ball came out and was different. My husband carefully cut it open and a small amount of water came out so we figured this was the placenta, but we looked through the whole thing and no baby! I am about 12 weeks, so I know it should be big enough to recognize. What do you think?
