Hello ladies!! Just to update you all....I had originally posted many months ago that my baby had cpc's found during our first ultrasound. Well, I just brought a beautiful baby girl home from the hospital....absolutely perfect!! I have yet to hear of anyone whose cpc's turned out to mean anything. Hang in there.....in a while you all too will have your beautiful babies in your arms!!

Well people i had my level 2 u/s done today. Only 10 days later the cyst is gone! But was still told that there was fluid in the kidneys. As well as what the doc. called it a "bright spot" in the heart but the nurse and him sat there for two hours trying to get a good picture but because she was in a bad position they couldnt get a good picture. He brought up taking the amnio test but im scared to do it and have a miscarriage. I have a week to decide if i should do it or not. And in another ten days i will have another level 2 u/s to see if they can get a better picture.. what to do???

Why do you say you have a week to decide on the amnio? Is it because of the option of termination if there is a problem? If not for that reason, it is an option available from 14-15 weeks until the end of the pregnancy. The miscarriage risk is typically quoted as 1/300 (or .33%). Good luck with such a difficult decision. I hope all goes well for you.

The doctor said he would like for me to take it within the next week because they prefer to do it between 18-20 weeks and im just at the begining of my 19th week. And he says if i wait any longer that i wont be able to take the amnio if i feel as though i want it. I guess my husband and i figured we would pa__s on it due to the fact that we'd keep the baby no more what. But i still pray that everything gets better.

I was just curious, so it sounds like he wanted you to do it during that time frame (18-20weeks) so that you'd have termination as an option still. If you ever feel like you need to know for sure before the delivery, amnio is an option beyond 20 weeks. You just might have a more difficult time finding someone to do a termination later if there was a problem. Since you said you wouldn't terminate anyway, then it doesn't matter and the amnio would just be for you to be able to prepare yourselves. Always keep in mind that the odds are in your favor to have a baby that does not have a chromosome problem! Try to enjoy the rest of your pregnancy - it is a wonderful time!

Thank you very much! I am trying to just let life flow as usual and think of everything in the positive light. No use in stressing until proven that there is something wrong, and besides the kidneys ill just wait for the answer to it all when the baby arrives. Family, friends, and this website has kept me sane about this situation so thank you.

Hi everyone, it has been helpful reading all of your info. I am pregnant with my third son, and he also has cpc's. I also got a positive triple screen blood test. There are no other apparent markers for probelms, however I am still very worried. I had amnio done because of my positive blood test and visible cpc's. Has anyone else had both of these risks, but everything turn out fine with the amnio results? Thanks

about a week ago i had the same problem with my daughter at 18 weeks i went back to the doctor for another ultrasound and everything was fine all of the limbs were fine the heart was fine nothing was wrong and the cyst that they seen before were shrinking the other was almost gone they told me that everything was going to be ok and also my triple screen test results were normal the doctor recommended that i didnt have a amniocentisis because of the risk of miscarriage or my water breaking but you should have nothing to worry about they should go away and you will have a healthy baby and in case they are still there when the baby is born that doesnt mean that it will have some chromosome defects so you all shouldnt worry my prayer goes out to you all thanks

Lace, I just wanted to tell you that I, too, was faced with the terrible decision of having the amnio or not. I am currently 33 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child, first boy, and we also foudn out at 18 weeks that he had a CPC and they also thought a shortened femur. We decided NOT to have the amnio because of the risk of miscarriage, as well as the fact that the markers were so "soft." It was so hard because I would have loved the peace of mind from the amnio, but couldn't live with having the test, and God forbid, having something happen to our healthy baby boy. Just continue to rely on your faith, family and friends and trust in the decision you made - there is always a reason!!! Good Luck and God Bless!

Hello ladies, I got a call last night from my midwife telling me that our baby has a CPC on each side of the brain (one at 3mm the other at 2mm). There were no other abnormalities found, but when she mentioned the a__sociation with Triosomy 18 I panicked. I am 33 years old and this is our second child. I go for the follow up u/s in 3-4 weeks and I am hoping with all my heart that everything will be OK. I had a dating u/s at 13 weeks and then my 2nd at 18 weeks and the CPC was not discovered until the 18 wk u/s. I saw the 2 black spots on the brain when she was doing the measurments and I felt sick to my stomach, but was too afraid to ask (also knowing the technician could not tell me any detaisl). I don't think I would have the courage to do the amnio if it was offered to me, also because we would not terminate if anything was confirmed to be abnormal. This is all so stressful!! However, I'm am so happy that I have found this site/forum. I hope the best for all of you..and lets pray that all goes well for each of us.

I had my 1st ultrasound at 20 weeks-a few days ago and the results were all normal except for the cysts on the brain. My doctor told me not too worry and that every other test I previously had was completely normal. She didn't even reccomend a 2nd ultra sound. I was a little worried when she first told me but after talking more with her and reading everyone's responses, I am rea__sured that everything will be fine! Thanks for sharing all your stories.

Hi, Im 16 weeks pregnant, and just had my sonogram on Thursday, my husband and I were so excited to find out what we were having, and there she was, a precious little girl, wiggling around and waving her little fingers, almost as if she were saying hey mom and dad!! This is my first pregnancy and I was so excited up until the point that we met with my doctor after the ultrasound, and she told me that the baby has two 3mm cpcs. She said not to worry, that they didnt detect anything else wrong on this ultrasound, she has a very strong healthy heartbeat, but she went ahead and scheduled me for level II ultrasound in 2 weeks. I should have the results of my triple screen blood tests back next week. I have done nothing but cry continuously, I couldnt even go to work yesterday. I am just devastated and so worried that something is wrong. I am so glad I found this message board. Does anyone have any advice about how I can calm down???? Im hysterical.

to ashlie i was in the same situation about a few weeks ago i can understand that you were upset and what you were going through as a mother thats how things are we worry about everything when it come to our children and especially a first time mother we dont know what to expect i am a first time mother too but my advice to you is that for you not to worry you are only putting stress on yourself and thats not healthy everything is going to be ok if they didnt see anything else wrong then chances are you will have a healthy baby just pray about it and continue to take good care of yourself and your baby those cyst are nothing at all when i had my first ultrasound there were two and when i went back for the second ultrasound one of then were gone and the other one was really small from the week before. just dont worry about it
