I too have found out that my 20 weeker has bilateral cpc's. I have been a wreck. Last night, my husband and I went for our level two ultrasound. My worries expanded when the Dr. told us that the baby also has echogenic intracardiac focus, which is a "bright spot" on the heart. Even though she said that this two is like the cysts and usually goes away, how am I suppose to be at ease? My husband was comforted by our odds and that there were no other abnormalities found, but 2 different markers for two different chromosomal abnormalities and not comforting for me. I am trying to think positive but it is hard. I refused the amnio because I had a friend to also lost her baby due to the amnio that she had. Has anyone else been told that they have the "bright" spot on the heart?? Thank you and good luck to all.. B

Emerson,
My baby had the cpc's and the echogenic intracardiac focus....I too refused the amnio...and she was born 2 weeks ago beautiful and healthy. I know it is hard not to worry,,,,as on top of these 2 findings, I also had a positive test result for down syndrome on the triple screen test....so i was really worried and it did practically ruin my pregnancy...all for no reason....so please try not to worry so much,,,,I hope this will help to comfort you some what, please try to enjoy your pregnancy as much as you can. Best of luck to you....Im sure everything will be fine.

I am 26yrs old and found out my son has CPC @ my 18wk u/s. My next appt is at 22wks to make sure there are no other problems. I am so worried, and its good to read on this forum that so many mothers are going thru this. I have read up on CPC all over the internet. My AFP test came back negative, and i'm hoping and praying for a healthy baby. My heart goes out to all of you, i know exactly how you feel. I will keep you posted on my results. Technology these days seems to be smarter than the people using it. My genetic counselor told me that CPCS are becoming so common , the medical field is rethinking telling mothers to be, that de-stressed me a little, i hope it does the same for all of you. GOD BLESS.

LCB, I would prefer if they didn't tell mothers to be because that would make my life that much easier. I went to the Dr on Friday the 10th and she told me not to be concerned but she seen 2 small CPC in my baby girls brain. I am 19 weeks along and how can you not worry?? I cried all weekend and my family was very supportive and my husband has been great. I called the Dr this morning and she said that she would send me to a high risk Dr to ease my mind, because I all I do is cry for her. They scheduled my appt for 5 weeks from now and I can not wait that long.

Hi there - I have just read all of the information on this forum and it has helped me beyond belief. I had a call from my doctor 2 weeks ago to say that he detected a problem with my 13 week blood test. Not the ultrasound, just the blood test. The problem could possibly be Trisomy 18. I had never heard of it and was sent to a specialist the next day where it was all explained to my husband & I. I immediately had an amnio done, thinking it was for the best. It seemed that the risk of a miscarriage was lower than the risk of the baby having this disorder. I am breaking my silence now as I have the full results and I am having a little girl and she is completely healthy. It was a rollercoaster of emotions for my family (and even workmates) while waiting for the results, but the peace of mind that has come with them was worth it. I regret not looking into amnio tests a bit more before I had one done (I would have never forgiven myself if I had lost the baby as a result of it and she is perfectly healthy), but it is over and done with now. My advice would be to do what is in your heart and do a little bit of research before any definite decisions are made. I live in Australia and it is probably a little bit different here than in Canada or America, but worry, unconditional love and concern about our little babies crosses all those boundaries doesn't it?? I am thinking of you all and hope your results are as positive as mine.

By the way I am now 19 weeks pregnant and feel as if the joy of the pregnancy has been taken away from me. I thought that once I got the results I would be able to sleep and eat well again, but my body and mind are both still reeling from the stress I think. How long did it take most people to relax and enjoy their pregnancies again after positive feedback from results? It will be a long wait till July if I feel like this until then!

Hi Everyone, I went to do my level 3u/s and Genetic sonogram after my Dr. told me that my baby has bilateral cpc .The Dr. specialist did see anything. He said that was a mistake in the diagnosis. Thank God I'm pretty happy and I can sleep again. I wish you all of you the best and I will pray for all of you. My advice is to have faith in God. Good luck everyone.

Hi Tracylynn, my appt is 2/23 i will follow up with my results. I cried myself to sleep for 4 days straight. Its really hard to cope with, however after i've investigated more facts about CPC i've been much better. My husband is really supportive and tells me to stay as calm as possible for me and the baby. I have to be positive, being upset only makes me worry more. I know its hard, but the results or so positive. Have you had a AFP test? If your results are negative your risk is much lower. I will share my results once i hear back. Take care of yourself and your baby girl.

I had my level two ultra sound yesterday, and my son is totally healthy! I am 23 weeks and they saw no cysts. They are looking into the first sonogram to see if there were any to begin with. And if there was they are completely gone now. Hang in there ladies, CPC's seem to be extremely common. 9 out of 10 times they are GONE by the 2nd ultra sound. Stay positive, and pray for healthy babies!!!

Hi Marla,
I just had an ultrasound, I am 16 weeks, they found many of these choroid plexus cysts in my babies head and of course, like you I am just worried sick. Everything else, so far looked good, but I will be going in next week for another ultrasound.. I also had blood drawn today for teh quad screening. Did you have that done to help rule anything out?

Thank you Marla for beginning this discussion related to your concerns, Thank you to all the women and men who submit there personal details to aid others, Thank you to Kelly for your research and others who do likewise. My daughter has just been told her scans indicate her baby has a crooked pinky finger and this may be an indicator for downs syndrome. Is this the work of over efficient doctors reading results or should we be concerned? I have read all the entries to this site and can't find a similar concern. Is this just another soft marker? Much love and many blessings to you all,
