after testing the umbilical cord after delivery how far back can you see if there was any drug use during the pregnancy

A better test of how much, if any drugs a newborn has been exposed to is testing the meconium. This is the baby's first poo. It's more likely that this will be tested, as the meconium testing is the most accurate. I can't remember how far back it can detect, but since it is poo the baby had for a while my guess is few months. Newborns arent usually tested unless you have a history of drug abuse, have admitted to drug use during your pregnancy, the baby shows signs of drug use/withdrawl symptoms, or you are on public aid.
