Early Bleeding Amp Wrong Dates

I had a scan today after a week of light spotting. According to my LMP I am 7 weeks today but the scan says I am only 5 weeks. My cycle is always regular so how can this be?
I have had 2 healthy pregnancies with no spotting at all and one miscarriage (between them) at 9 weeks.
The scan today showed everything normal for 5 weeks - sac + yolk but could it have stopped growing. Am I just waiting to miscarry ?
