When I had my Paraguard Copper IUD put in I was told 99% effective. I have not gotten pregnant, but could have sworn I was at one point. I think I miscarried (looked like a really heavy period that lasted longer than usual). I did not have any pg tests come back positive, but I sure did feel pg and I spotted barely for two days, then had this monster period two weeks later that lasted almost 2 weeks. I am not too happy with my choice at this point. We will be having another child sooner than later so I am keeping mine in until then. (could be as early as next month). My heart goes out to all of you who are dealing with such a hard issue to handle. Take care, Sarah

If you plan on getting pregnant get the iud took out ....

Sarah - August 19

I will be getting it out in the next few months. Hubby may be going away for a while so it would not be good to be pg with him gone. I have been using the rhythm method (used successfully for 9 months before my ds was conceived) along with the IUD so to not tempt fate. Sarah

Hello ladies, me again well I got my period about 8 days late. But all in all it was normal. Went to my obgyn today and explained the situation who I was late and was the reason I had scheduled a appt last week thinking possiblle pg. I was thinking of removing it she then told me about the mirena obvisiosly I had the paraguard. The mirena is supposed to make your period lighter with less cramps. I would love to take anyother method of birth control however with practically very type of cancer running in my family the stakes are high. Personally I would love to have another baby as soon as possible. I graduate business college this Tuesday. The main reason I inserted the Iud was my fiance we're supposed to get married this Feb 13, due to my finding out I was pregnant last year we decided to delay things. We both decided since I am catholic and want to have a church wedding that if it was a baby girl we would wait till she was a year old to be our flower girl. Originally his niece was supposed to take this roll and my nephew both 3yrs old. Well shortly after inserting the paraguard my fiance had a nasty fall where he ruptured his right knee. So when my doc told me I could try the the mirena and see how well that works he said give it a try. So I go back on the 30th of aug, since they had to order it. I also mentioned this message board to my doc and she has both the paraguard and the mirena are 99% effective. But there is that ! out of a 100 women who will still can pg using this method. Thats why I just love my obgyn as a woman she understands the concern and pushes me into doing something I don't wish to do. As well as never scoffing at my perturbtions. Good lucks who are pg with the iud my mother gave birth to my youngest brother. Also my doc said that you can deliver a full term healthy baby with the iud in you just have to be careful determining the circ_mstances.

I have had my IUD for 2 years now. I was having round ligamnet pain. I had it with my 2nd daughter. So I decied to take a test last night that one was neg so I repeated it with first morning pee. I saw a very faint line. So I took two more troughout the day both of those were neg. I dont know what to do. What do you think?

Holly - August 22

Chrissy you need to go to the doctor asap my lines where faint.. That means they are pregnancy hormones producing and you may not be that far along.. But just enough hormone levels to pick it up on the test. And the link is: http://www.pregnancy-info.net/QA/answers-IUD_Pregnancy/

Thank you Holly. I found it later that evening. I had another heavy period this month (which was one week early). There were clots the size of a marble. I hate this thing sometimes, but at least I have not gotten pg yet. Oh well....soon enough. Due to some medications I have taken I will have to be off of them for 3 months to get pg, so I will have to wait at least that long now. Sarah

Holly - August 23

aww I am sorry hope the best for you..

I had the paragauard put in in march. I had normal periods after that every month pretty normal, well this month it went on for 16 days straight then stopped for 2 days then came back for another 2, it finally has stopped, but i am still having cramps, i called my obgyn and he said he wanted me to do a blood count but it stopped so i dont see the need to take it. but my b___st have been a little tender and sometimes i am feeling vey noxious, i dont know what it could be so what should i do???

Sarah - August 24

Have you checked the strings to make sure it is still in place. I have gone long too. About 2 weeks is the most I can remember. Holly had trouble with a long period and it was trouble. I think that I become anemic during my periods, but cannot get the tests then. I dont worry with it much anymore. I take an iron pill when I feel fatigued and it seems to do the trick. Sarah
