NOT Pregnant....wow what a stress off my shoulders. I would definately go and get a blood test done anyways, just to make sure. The earlier you know with an IUD the better. Good Luck to all

Adrienne, I am so happy the you are relieved. I would get a blood test too. Unlike you I still don't know since i still haven't started and it the 12th day. I think I may go to the store today to get a test instead of waiting on payday. If I am pregnant that is fine. I decided last night that I am going to have my IUD removed regardless of the results. I talked with my hubby kast night and he says that whatever my decsion is he will support me. Plus he kinda likes the fact that I may be pregnant. If I am not we will definately try to get pregnant. Of course the IUD will be out.

I have a mirena IUD and only got it very recently (9 weeks ago). I can't find the string and I have not had my period. I have 4 kids so I KNOW what it feels like to be pregnant and I am definately feeling pregnancy symptoms. My doctor had me make an appointment at the time it was inserted for a 3 month follow up and that appointmetn is coming up in a few weeks. Do you all think I should call and try and be seen sooner since I can't find the strings and feel pregnant? Or should I just buy a home pregnancy test? For those of you that have become pregnant with an IUD, and the string was missing, did the doctor first do a pregnancy test? AND did they go poking around your cervix/uterous trying to find the IUD since the string is not visible or did they do an ultra sound to see if the IUD is still in fact in place? I am not ready for 5 kids thats for sure but if a misscarriage will happen I would not want it to be from a doctor poking around and damaging my cervix. Would they possibly do that?

I do have signs that I might be pregnant. My b___sts are sore and they never get sore from my period, I have heart burn and I have only gotten heart burn when I was pregnant for my daughter and a missed period but with merina i was told you might stop getting your period.

Alicia - October 18

Rachel, Just to let you know the only time I could feel my strings were right after they were inserted. Did the doctoe show you how to feel the strings? Because it is very hard. Why dont you see if your husband can feel them!! or can he feel the iud itself. I wouldnt worry too much about being pregnant, alot of people who do have the mirena feel pregnant because of all the hormones that goes with it!! But If i were you i would just take a hpt just to make sure, and if its negative I would just bring it up to your doctor when you see him that you cant feel your strings and that you are having pregnancy symptoms. he might want a to do a blood test!! but hopefully everything will be ok! good luck and keep in touch with us!!

Good Morning everyone....Rachel, I had my IUD removed 2 weeks ago, not b/c I was pregnant but due to other problems....But I am writing in regards to you not feeling your strings....Before I had my IUD removed, I was unable to feel my strings, and my hubby hadn't been able to feel them either....When i went to the dr, she did a check and they had been pushed up behind my cervix, she said the the IUD was in place just that my strings were playing hide-and-seek, of course i didn't find that too funny, like i do now since it is out....lol....as for your pregnancy symptoms, you stated that your IUD is new....i was told when i got mine that the first month to 2 months were the most likely times of being able to get pregnant.....I had my IUD in for 3 years this past sept and had mine removed 2 weeks ago....The symptoms I was having were continuous bleeding and severe abdomnial cramps.....my body was beginning to reject the IUD and the hormones were too much being put into my uterus....if you are worried by your symproms do not hesitate to go to dr.....better to be safe than sorry.....you are all in my thoughts...if you have any questions please feel free to contact me at ariel22485@yahoo.com....Take Care....Tanya

I have posted in the other board about this. just wondering if anyone has head about the paraguard IUD not working as well as the mirena.Well I think that I and pregnant with my IUD. My hubby knows but he wants me to wait unitl Friday when he gets his check. I have a little extra cash and I am thinking of going to the store to get one. I am 13days late. last Wednesday I had some severe adominal pains and I couldn't move with out the pain it was horrible. I didn't got to the hospital because it eased up some. Now I am late on my period and it has me thinking. I don't know what to do.

Jennifer c--if you can spare the money to do a pregnancy test, to ease your worry until your husband gets paid. I would recommend that you follow up with a blood test from the dr because sometimes the urine test can't detect low levels of hormones. If there are Planned Parenthood or county clinics in your area, your visit fee would be on a sliding-fee scale. Best of luck to you. dls

Jennifer C, where do you live? I'm having my IUD removed next month! I will be so relieved. I went in yesterday on an emergancy basis when I couldn't feel my strings either! I'm so tired of fooling around withthis thing. I may go back to VCF or I'm going to switch to the Nuva Ring. Not too sure yet about doing the hormone thing again. Any others researched other options?

Sarah - October 20

I am having mine removed next month as well. I have had a scare or two where I was late and/or felt pregnant. I have the Paraguard so there are no hormones but my own. I cannot stand the heavy periods (to the point of becoming pale and tired) and the cramps all month long. I hope everyone who is dealing with problems here is feeling well today. We used the rhythm method successfully for almost a year before we decided to have my son. It is doable you just have to be very in tune. Sarah

Wow! I thought I was the only one feeling this way. What a relief to know I'm not. I had the mirena IUD inserted May 27 - almost 5 months ago. It's been miserable since. I bled on and off for about 6 weeks (more on than off). Then nothing for 2 months, then I had a period in early September. Then in the end of Sept. I had period symptoms again...as if I as going to start. These symptoms lasted just a few days and Never started my period. Then last week my b___bs got sore, got a little crampy (my usual pregnancy symptoms), headaches..etc. Well, I've had these symptoms for all of two weeks now. My b___st have become so sore and tender that they hurt when I walk...so I've been wearing my tennis shoes everywhere and I work in a professional environment so it doesn't look good, but I don't really care. I did take a test last weekend and it came back negative. But it seems as if my symptoms are just getting worse. Another thing that makes me worry is about 3 weeks ago during intercourse I could feel my boyfriend touching my IUD - it was moving all around. I asked him if he could feel it, but of course he didn't care it wasn't bothering him. :) I've also lost about 15 lbs since I got the IUD. And after reading a lot of these posts so had a lot of other women. If I did happen to get pregnant when I felt the IUD moving around that would only make me about 3 weeks. I'm so confused and I keep telling myself it's all in my head. One of the nurses at my drs office told me there is basically no way I could be pregnant. But after reading all of these posts (very shocked to see so many) I'm not so sure it's in my mind anymore. I think regardless this thing is coming out!!! I have 3 boys...I really don't want anymore kids. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Hi there... I guess we all share a similar problem... You feel pregnant, do the test. it comes back negative... then what? I have Marina for just over a year now. Lost 5kg's within the last 3months, I have mood swings and acne. I feel bloated all the time and spots on and off. Question is.... Maybe it's just one of the side effects to make you feel pregnant, although you are not? Some ladies come back with a positive pregnancy result..... but what about the other ladies who don't respond, after doing a blood test? Can this feeling just be another side effect of the Merina? Well, we surely dont want to be pregnant!

Hi, I am really worried because I have had no pregnancy symptoms whatsoever & my period as usual but 4 days ago I realised I could feel those familiar flutterings in my abdomen - I did a home pregnancy test but it was negative - I've had the copper IUD in about 11 months. After reading so many of you had done negative tests I'm worried now and the flutterings are still happening - this is so weird - I've felt nothing like this apart from being pregnant & I was told by the Doctors after my son was born it would be advisable healthwise not to have any more. I'm freaking out!

Miona - October 23

I have had the Mirena IUD in for about 2 years now My periods have been unregular. I had a infection from the IUD in August could not clear it up doctor said it was okay to go ahead and keep the IUD. I have missed my period last month. Now wondering if I am pregnant. Has anyone had any infections with there IUD?

Alicia - October 23

I havent had a bad infections! just yeast infections! And it sucks!! I had gone to the doctor to get my Iud checked out and he said everything looked great!! I had been having irregular periods myself!! Actually I wasnt having any periods just spotting like every other day it seemed. My doctor prescribed me birth control and I took it for about a week and it made me have a period!! A real one at that! I thought everything was Ok! And the rest of the month I didnt have any spotting either. I was thinking thats all I needed was just a little kick of hormones! Since I had the copper iud with no hormones! Now I am like 4 days late. I dont think I am pregnant at all I just hating not knowing for sure. I have been debating for the last couple of months to decide to take this thing out or not. I dont want to because it soooo convienant. Oh well we will see how this month goes, hopefully I start and have a regular period! Hopefully everything will be ok with all of you, Best Of Luck!!
