I had had a leep before I got my iud too. Well my leap had been done over 5 years ago. but when they put my iud in it didnt hurt too bad i just remember there being lots of cramping! I havent had my iud taken out yet so hopefully because of the leep it wont be hard to take out!

hi ladies it's been a while i had my paraguard removed on the 3rd of this month my period was to come on the 16th haven't seen it yet so how long does it take for your period to resume after having the iud removed

Kisha....I had my IUD removed on the 6th of october, I started bleeding right after, which is normal...then it stopped I started the pill the same day the IUD was taken out and I had my period when I started my placebos.....It all depends on your body....I had my IUD in for 3 years and hadn't had a period until the last 6 months and it was a off and on one every other week....so don't stressed unless you believe you have a reason to, such as the possiblility of being pregnant....as for the other ladies who are curious about the amount of pain that is involved with the IUD coming out....I had an uncomfortable feeling when it was taken out, slight cramping from my uterus contracting....but I had more pain when it was inserted and the last 3 months from cramps....but I honestly am happy that I had it removed.....I feel a lot better....if anyone has any questions or would like to talk feel free to get in touch with me....tcobb@midatlanticbb.com...Have a Great Day! I just found out I am pregnant. I have a 14 month old daughter and have had my copper IUD in for a year. No complications other than very heavy periods. I just had my yearly exam at the ob/gyn and said that my IUD was in proper place. Then less than a month later I am pregnant. He removed the IUD. I had no bleeding or cramps afterwards, but he said there is a chance of miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy. It's too early for an ultrasound as I am not quite 5 wks yet.

update... i am now 23.2 weeks pregnant ..IUD is a__sumed to be in the same position as it has been for a while lower right side of the uterus. I am ok, but have some unsual pain .. Baby is Perfect.. :)

HI EVERYONE JUST THOUGHT I'D UPDATE.I HAD MIRENA IUD IN DR COULDN'T REMOVE IT DURING PREGNANCY SO IT WAS LEFT IN,DURING PGY I HAD LOWER ABDO PAIN,BACK PAIN,CRAMPS,LOW BP,ETC.JUST THOUGHT I'D LET YOUS KNOW MY BABY (NO. 5) WAS DUE ON DEC 10 BUT AT 34WKS MY WATER BROKE 2 DAYS LATER THE CONTRACTIONS STARTED I HAD ALITTLE BOY AFTER 1.5HRS. HE WAS TAKEN TO THE NEONATAL INTENSIVE CARE AS HE WAS JAUNDICE,HYPOTHERMIC & HYPOGLYCEAMIC.HE WAS IN THE NICU FOR 24HRS HE WEIGHED 6P5OZS(2780G) & 44CM LONG. WE CALLED HIM LACHLAN THOMAS APART FROM KEEPING ME AWAKE MOST OF THE NIGHT HE IS VERY HEALTHY EVEN THOUGH HE WAS 6 WEEKS EARLY. MY IUD CAME OUT IN THE PLACENTA, IT WAS INSIDE OUT,THE CORD WAS IN A KNOT & VERY BIG. THE DR HAD TO EXAMINE HIS GENITALS & WE JUST NEED TO MAKE SURE HIS TESTES ARE DROPPING DOWN (THEY ARE) AS SHE TOLD ME THE HORMONE IN THE IUD CAN AFFECT THE GENITALS FEMALE MORE THAN MALE, THEY CAN HAVE AN ENLARGED CLITORIS. SO EVERYTHING IS FINE WITH MY BOY GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE.GOTTA GO HES CRYING FOR A FEED.

Charmane.. congrats on your bundle of joy ..and what a relief it must of been to have him... i go through every day worry, and hoping for the best.. now i have a question.. according to my doctor, i am having a boy as well.. i still havent asked her about the iud hormones and the affects on the genitals of the baby... but i was told i am having a boy.. did they tell you the same thing? while pregnant??. see if the girls genitals are affected by the mirena, i am wondering if it would give us a false s_x reading kwim? well to be honest.. i dont care what it is..but that this baby is healthy, and safe.. and i am able to carry it ... till the end.. once again Congrats!!! your story gives me hope..

I had a doctor tell me not to long age that when they first come out with the pill they knew about the hormones the can cause you to loose your period.The reason they didn't do it at that time is they figured woman would be uncomfortable not getting their period.I quess she was right.Anyone who got the mirena was told they might loose their period but worry they might be pregnant when they do.It makes no sense why you worry when you know it normal for this type of birth control.All hormonal birth control can confuss you body.I will state IUD's are not perfect but nothing is and yes people do get pregnat.As long as you have s_x you can get pregnat with anything.

"no sense" i dont understand your response... ?? what are you refering to? woman who dont know weather or not they are preg? or were you referring to me?? cause just in case you didnt read my post.. I AM PREGNANT with the MIRENA IUD still in my uterus so the reading i was talking about was about the s_x of the baby... i was told it was a boy, but wonder if the hormanes would affect the growth of my baby's genitals.. just thought i make myself clear..and yes you are right only abstenence is 100% however the IUD is not 99.9% effective.. therefore it should not be advertised as is.. tsk tsk tsk shame on the manufacture..

This post is sooooooo long I don't know your story.I am referring to woman who know they may loose or skip their period due to hormones in birth conrtol.Why panic everytime you miss a period when you were told it could happen.It's like having someone tell you there is ice ahead be careful not to fall.When you fall you wonder why.Pregnancy symptons are a common side affect of all hormonal birth controls.Not to say IUD can't cause cyst and other thing you MAY NOT have gottten otherwise.Nothing beside not having s_x is 100%.

Well this IUD stuff is crazing. For the first couple months after I put my IUD in its perfect. I mean as in they were on time. I have always been an on time person. They were just a little heavy. any how I have been having some concerns about the IUD. Im not the one to jump the gun when I miss a period and think that I am pregnant. but after I spot very lightyly for only a day after being late like 5 already then it goes away again i cant help but wonder a little. I dont have the IUD with the hormones I have the copper IUD and lately I have been feeling very nauses and my back is killing me. That happened with my first 2 kids. I would be late my back would start to cramp and I would feel nauses. I hate even thinking of the possibilty of pregnancy but I guess if you have s_x there is a possiblity. I just want to know if any one else has had these symptoms. See I smoke and normally I wouldnt take a pregnancy test for awhile because thats just who I am, but since I smoke Im more inclined to go take one because in case I am pregnant I dont want to smoke. WHEEWWWW ok I feel alittle bit better noww after I got all that off my chest. my husband doesnt even know that I am late.thanks you guys!!

Hi! I wrote "no sense".I was talking about the mirena IUD.I don't believe you are suppose to miss your period on the copper one.I was under the impression it would make periods heavier.Being you don't have hormones for side affects.I would at least buy a test but you may want to let someone else who has the copper IUD answer this one.

Hey ! Im 18 and i have one child named cadence who is 14 months. Ive had my iud for about a year now. I had a period that was on time and not as heavy as normal and then was off a week or so and had another period that was spot_tn for two days and then one day bleeding but it wasnt normal period blood. My hips and stomach are growing buut no real weight gain. A LOT of ppl are telling me i am pregnant and after reading this thread its starting to scare me (i have the copper iud btw) I am gonna take an hpt tomorrow morning. I was planning on gettin my iud taken out anyway i like it but i am always calling off work bc of the cramps and pain i have from it n its not worth it but im thinkin of gettin it out in march when i get my pap done. anyways im getttin anxious if i am pregnant i know i need to know. I personally dont "feel" pregnant but idk my bf thinks i am . I am eating a lot more and am really moody but its also christmas season so it could be stress... idk what do you all think?

I have a Mirena IUD. Just got it over five weeks ago. NOw i am two weeks late and have pregnanct symptoms too. HPY shows negative. Im not convinced. Cant' see the doctor til the middle of January. Maybe Im being paranoid.. but i already have a little boy and i know what it feels like to be pregnant. Is it possible to get pregnant on the Mirena IUD nad still show a negative HPT??
