Hey guys. I've been reading through and feel terrible for some of your experiences. I thought I'd share mine, since I see there's a lot more questions here than answers. I had the Mirena IUD put in on Jan 24th 2007, and found out I was almost 5 weeks pregnant on the 15th of July in the ER. I had an u/s down and they couldn't find the IUD. I then had a u/s with my ob the following week. There was one very tiny line that "could be" the iud. He says "i'm safe," keeping it in if it exists, but due to obvious lack of trust, I'm pretty darn nervous. I don't know what to do, and I have no insurance. (we weren't prepared, this is our third baby now... I have a 4yo and a 2yo both boys.) I'm pretty terrified from all the information leaving it in. The IUD is c___p if you ask me. I just don't know what to do.

Alright ladies I found this site in a google search because I am pretty sure I am pregnant (but haven't taken the test yet), I got my IUD in May 07 and since then I had spotted or had a regular type period every 2-3 wks. Well since July 25 I have not gotten anything and I am always tired, sick, irratiable, and I eat all the time and then there are times that I dont want to eat at all. And after reading all the women's stories on how the Mirena failed them I am soo scared right now. My husband and I have 3 children and the youngest isn't even 2 yet. ALso my husband is set to deploy again for 15 mo in about 3. Honestly with our track record this should be about right for me to get pregnant because it happens everytime he leaves for a decent amount of time. So any info would be great or just support would be great. Actually I am going to buy a test tonite and I will let you all know in the mornin what happens. Hope all goes well for all you ladies and I will defiantly keep you in my prayers!!! ?

Gosh, this is all so distressing. My heart truly goes out to all of you who have faced such heartache thanks to the IUD Gods (OB/GYN's who tell us it's safe and 99.9% effective.) We understand acutely that they are feeding us lies and propaganda to make more money. Anyhow, here is my spiel. I got my Mirena in May of this year (2007) after an NP tried to force it through a very tight and closed cervix for half an hour. I told her I changed my mind (I thought it was a sign) but she said that she would give up if she couldn't get it in after 1 more try. Low and behold, she got it in. It was torture. I would rather give birth again than to ever to go through that pain again. Nothing has happened the way that I expected it to since then. I had "regular" periods for about two months after, then light spotting the next month, and now nothing. I am upset by not having my period. Not only have I lost my period, I have been having all the signs of an early pregnancy. I am afraid to to take a test, and after reading all the posts, I am not sure that a negative test would allay my fears. The thing that I found the most strange has been my recent OBSESSION with all things pregnancy and baby related. I have always liked babies and preggo ladies, but I can't stop thinking about it. How does the IUD work? Does it force abortions after conception, or does it actually prevent pregnancies (normally)? Does it trick my body into thinking I am pregnant because of the hormones, thereby inducing obsessive thoughts and symptoms? Has anyone had success transitioning off of the IUD and onto Fertility Awareness? Are there any IUD support groups? I am in constant pain with my IUD in place. I have been feeling crampy for the last six weeks or so, and I wonder if it's due to a shift in my IUD. Thanks for listening and sharing. It helps to know that I am not alone here. I will never recommend the IUD to anyone!

I've already read most all of these posts. So, we have had people who have had negative tests but positive blood tests with the mirena? I've had no major problems for four years with this thing. Now, I am feeling so pregnant. It seems as though I feel more pregnant than I would be, at this point. I am awaiting blood test results.

Hi Britney, I just found this site, insearch of answers my self. I have an Merena IUD for 4 1/2 years now and i'm worried i'm pregnant. I have 4 children already and we don't want anymore children. I'm scared to death after reading so many negative things tonight. What kind of IUD do you have? What will they do if i'm pregnant?

terawhite - February 18

I have had my merina IUD for almost 5 years now ready to get it out in july 08. I have not had a peroid for almost 4 1/2 years now... I got a peroid for the first time in Jan 08. Could this mean the horemones in the Merina IUD are wearing off and I can get pregnant? Been really tired and crampy... should I buy a home Prego test? What do you all think,

Well I have all of you beat. I got pregnant almost five years ago now with the paraguard (cooper iud). They immediatly removed the IUD and all was well. After my sons birth I made the decesion to get another IUD because I cannot tolerate any contaceptives with horemones, so yes I went with another copper IUD. Now almost five years later history repeats itself, I am pregnant! Yikes. I have a 14 yr old daughter an almost 5 yr old son and I am 35, and pregnant again. Well yesterday they removed the IUD and so far so good. Monday I have to have my hormone levels check and repeat the ultra sound to try to find out where the fetus is. Hopefully it is not an eptopic pregnancy and all will be fine again. My hormone levels were low yesterday but the removal went well and no spotting or real discomfort yet. We just have to wait and see like before I say if it is met to be it will be, but what are the chances of this happening to one person twice. My advice is stay away from the copper IUD or change it out every two years. Like one of the other lady's I too had gastric bypa__s about 2 1/2 yrs. ago. hmmm make ya wonder. The first time I got pregnant with the IUD there was no signifigant weight loss, and this time the doctor said it has nothing to do with why. Weight loss I mean. Well cross your fingers and say a prayer. Good luck guys....

Hi, I have had the copper IUD for a little over a year now and all was well. I always had my periods right on time and now I am over a week 1/2 late. I am really starting to freak out. I have a 4 year old and a 13 month old. I have no insurance either and can't qualify for state a__sistance! I haven't taken a test yet out of pure denial. My b___bs are bigger, my appet_tie is outta control and I am tired. I plan on taking one on saturday if no period happens. Oh I really hope I am not pregnant. I don't know what to do.

leapinglabs - May 7

Hi everyone. I have just finished ready almost all of the posts on this page, and am freaking out. I just got my IUD put in on March 30. On April 13th I got married and my husband and I stopped using two forms of birth control and are just relying on the IUD. I was supposed to start my period last week but only had some light spotting. I am extremely sleepy, and over the past week have started to get light-headed with some headaches, and over the past two days, a slight case of nausea. I took a pregnancy test a few days ago but it came out negative. I still just have this feeling though. Now that I have read all of your posts I am pretty scared.

Junegoddess - May 12

Wow. I did an internet search to calm my worries, but instead... wow. I really believed the c___p they told me about IUDs being so effective. I had the Mirena a couple of years ago, but got fed up with constantly feeling pregnant and obsessing about it, so I had it out. Later I did get pg (was actually trying) but she was stillborn. Dh doesn't want more, I want to keep the option open, so... I got a copper IUD. Now, two months later, my period is late, I'm nauseous, tired, hungry, and wondering what on earth I'm going to do. First step... I know... pregnancy test. *sigh* "99% effective" my a__s...

Terez - September 22

Hi,My name is Terez, I got the IUD put in after my first son was born, In April 08..My son was born in Nov.2007, well after I had him I got pregnant again I was 7 weeks then I miscarried..Well I had my IUD for 7 months now and my periods are normal, I am having the same feeling that I am pregnant again (like I did when I got pregnant with my son and then when I got pregnant with the second one then had the miscarriage) I have been having a lot of cramping/false labor pains and I took a test 2 weeks ago and it came back negative, I usually get my periods on the 24 of each month, But I have a strong feeling i wont be getting this month, what were your guys symptoms before you all found out you got pregnant...

neekola22 - October 7

Hello to all of you. I am having the same problems. I had mirena put in in Oct. of 07 after I had my second boy and I am now having the signs of being pregnant. Although last month I had a very heavy period and it was very clotty and there was something attached to a clot on my tampon. I have never miscarried before, I know it seems unsensitive but I do not wan to seem that way at all. It looked like something that could have been an embryo. It scares me a bit and I am still having the feelings but I have my period now. I am wondering if maybe I did miscarry and just don't realize it. I am getting a test on Friday, so please if anyone else had a situation like this please let me know. I will check up on this site almost everyday. Thanks to you all and may the sun always shine on your shoulders!!!!
