Kim, there is one way to test positive for pregnancy on all those tests and still not be pregnant. Some types of ovarian cysts can produce the pg hormone. as weird as it sounds thats still a possibility. Although I have seen waay too many posts on here of women getting pregnant on the IUD. I had mine taken out earlier this week. it;s a good thing I did, mine wasn't in the right place and that out me at high risk for getting pregnant with an IUD in place. good luck, I hope everything is allright.

I also got prego with the Mirena IUD. I was shocked to find out and went to the ER to have it removed. They couldn't remove it b/c it had attached to my uterus. So I lost the baby had a mc and then to add insult to injury I needed major surgery to get the IUD out b/c it migrated from my uterus to my stomach. I will never get one again and i'd never suggest anyone get one. I'd personally leave it be. If the pregancy continues great but there is that possiblity that it won't. If they dilate your cervics your body will cramp and thuse it tries to flush push everything that is in you uterus out. If that makes sense. All I can say is good luck. Oh wait this is old... okay just incase someone else comes here to find info i"ll leave what I just wrote. REMEMBER TO LET THE PEOPLE AT MERINA KNOW THAT YOU BECAME PREGO! THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!

Just though I would let you all know that I went to the doctor to day with cramping in my left side. (like menstarion cramping) and to get my copper IUD check to see if it was still in place and the doctor looked at me and said this thing has to come out now or you will need a emergency historectomy I was very shock I responded what do you mean he said you have so major infection going on I am going to have some blood work done to see if you have any infection in your blood. well need less to say it took him about 10 minutes to get it out because it had moved sideways which was causing the cramping. I have to go back 2 weeks and go over the results because he put me on pain pills antibotics and for birth controll he put me on the patch which i personally don't think that is a good idea for me. o.h my doctor said personally he never recommends the IUD to anyone he showed me a chart with the IUD crossed out I just laugh and he said there are many other reasons.

Carolyn---I know it's scary now, but as time goes on, you'll feel more comfortable about it. I just hope your beau gives you the understanding & support you deserve at this awkward time. Remember, hormones do a number on your system when you become pregnant, so your fears are magnified to you now. Gather those friends and family around you who can empathize with your situation. They'll help you weather the storm when you get down & help you see that it's not so bad. Good luck & let us know when you're due & what you name her, etc. Take care! No matter what, remember that there some of us out there who care!

I have been lurking here for the last few days. I am 2 weeks late and have the Mirena IUD. I have 4 kids already and my hubby is a little freaked out. After #3 we had the copper IUD put in and I hated it due to the cramping and heavy bleeding. Even with all the probs we kept it in for 3 yrs until we thought we were ready for #4. We thought we would have it removed and then use condoms for a few months and then try to get prego. I tested positive 3 days after the removal. My little Gunnar came into the world 7 months later, yes 2 months early. Even with that issue we decided to go with the Mirena as my sister has it and loved it. I figured if I didn't like it I would just have it removed. Everything has been Great up until this month. I have not started and I don't feel an signs of doing so. That is how I have always known I was pregnant. Lack of cramping or bloating. Anyways. I checked to see if I could feel the strings. And guess what I can't. My hubby works out of town 4 days a week and so I asked him if he felt them the last time we had intercourse and he said yes. Well I can't find them at all. I am going to call my doc and make an appointment for tomorrow. I will be floored if I am pregnant. We thought we were taking the appropriate precautions. And didn't want my tubes tied or him fixed as we are only 29 and 31. Still very young. I guess I really can't trust these things and will have to do something else. I'll post again once I find out for sure.

i too have been reading posts for the past several days. i had the mirenia iud inserted in nov 2004. i have not a period in atleast six months. lately i have had several weird pregnancy symptoms... dizzy, nasuas, tired, irritable etc... i have three kids and didn't plan on having anymore. i am taking a pregnancy test tonight and have an appt with my doc tomorrow. brookie if your only symptom is your period stopping you might not be pregnant it is common for your period to stop with mirenia, but you need to go to the doctor if you can't find your string.

Actually let me give you the whole story.. I had the paraguard in for 5 years and tested positive for pregnancy in May- I was 6 weeks. The ultra-sound showed the iud had dropped down and was on my cervix the "sac" or embryo was positioned above it normally. She suggested taking the iud out because it was already so low, I agreed. When she took it out, I asked to look at it and noticed it was missing one of the copper wrappings on the "T" . The next visit I mentioned it to the Dr. and she said "oh.. I think I remember seeing that too.. maybe it was made that way" Long story short, she was never once concerned that it was still inside me, I told her it had to be! Everything was fine until I hit 15 weeks, suddenly I had a fever of 104 and they took several tests and couldn't determine the cause.. I kept telling them, MAYBE it was that piece inside of me, I know it has to still be there.. well.. nothing was done, my concerns were overlooked, because she couldn't believe it was possible for that to happen. I miscarried 1 month later after bleeding and cramping for a month. My husband insisted we have an x-ray.. and sure enough. There it was. Now, all she could say was sorry and we'll see how we might get it out.. she said they'll try endoscopy first.. and I said well if that doesn't work then what.. and she said ... well, I don't know.. my husband and I are so heartbroken, we lost our first son. We're not sure what to do.. I've made plans to see a different doctor, this isn't right...

Dear IM, I would have to think that you could possibly have a case against this doctor for not treating you well enough and for overlooking something like that. If I were you, I would call an attorney and give them your story. It is definatley worth a shot...that is doctors have to carry insurance. All that an attorney can say is no, but he can at least give you some advice as to what your rights are. This is not okay, and she should be held responsible in some way. Please keep us posted, I am VERY sorry for your loss. May God be with you in this hard time of your life! Eva

Hi i have the the coil for the past 2 years. Only through having sensitive b___sts and realising my period was 4 days late i decided to do a pregnancy test.Infact i did 2 which showed i was pregnant.I went to the hospital who confirmed i was pregnant and the coil was still in place. They did a blood test and now i am just playing the waiting game to find out if i have an ectopic pregnancy i am so worried dont know what to do or where to turn for help.Actually knowing i am pregnant makes me want this baby.
He did say my coil needs to be removed but when i dont know. Its a sad thing but good in a way to know that others are experiencing the same thing.

Cheryl, so your IUD did not move out of place at all? And what type of IUD do you have? My doc told me that there is a very small chance of getting pregnant with an IUD, but if you have been reading this forum you notice that is not completely true. You definately are not alone. Best of wishes to you and please, keep us informed on your condition! Eva

Cheryl-I hate to tell you but your waiting may just be beginning. In my case, it took 3 bloodtests and an ultrasound over 6 days to figure out what was going on with my Mirena and my positive hpt. You will want to find a good hcg chart online to lookup your hcg number when they call you back with your bloodwork results. They will then need to draw more blood to check your hcg again. At this point your hcg number should double every 48 hours (of I remember correctly). Since you know how mny days late you are, it should be easy to tell if your hcg number supports how far along you are. I have read lots about healthy iud pregnancies, so just think positive right now. Keep us posted and good luck.
