Hello! I stumbled across this message board and find it extremely interesting. I too have been having preg symptoms for a couple of weeks now. I have been brushing it off as stress, pms, fatigue, but when i started to cry over a commercial, that really wasn't very moving, a red flag went up. As i was reading through these posts, I was wondering how many of the "I think I'm pregnant" posts have returned to say they are indeed pregnant? I saw a few, but there were more that were wondering, but I haven't seen them come back to post. Also, for those who did test and did get negative results only to find out later your were indeed preg, how many tests did you do? What brand of hpt did you use? I got a box of 3 First response tests today, did one this afternoon but it came back -, so I'm going to wait for first morning urine. If that too comes back - I will wait another 2 weeks. I had false negs before with two previous pregnancies so that wouldn't be unusual for me. Oh and one more interesting factoid. My aunt conceived and carried to term while having an IUD in place that was years ago, so I'm wondering if something like this could be affected by manufacturing of the product? like a faulty batch or something? Because she told me then , she heard she wasn't the only one then either there were 4 women in her circle of friends that became preg with the copper T, so I'm thinking that could be a very real possibility, a__suming we all do come up pregnant. Any ideas?

I just found out on Saturday that i am pregnant. I have the 10 year IUD and have had it 2 years. It is nice to hear people in my same situation. It has been an emotional rollercoaster so far. Just an FYI my mom is a Neonatal Nurse and just had 2 moms this week give birth to babies and the IUD came out. 1 baby had it in its back and the other was holding it. They are going to be ok so I hope this is comfort for some. Thanks for sharing all of your stories.

April, Now here is an interesting question. How many moms were on that Maternity floor? Because if the IUD stats are claiming that there is only a one one hundreth of a chance that you would actually get pregnant on the IUD those two women alone could b__w those stats right out of the water, depending on how many mothers in the same practice as the attending Dr, have IUDs in place.....Geeze this is disturbing!

Lori, I am exact at the same situation as you are. My Dr. recommends to leave the IUD with a small operation and this means automatically that I will loose the baby. I want to know an expert opinion on this: to leave it and come out with the baby or to terminate the pregnancy now to avoid any risk for me or the babey, especially that I have already three kids and thanks GOD, I am satisfied with them. Any reaction.

I have had my iud for three years with no problems. I had normal periods no side effects and LOVED IT. In April 05 while my husband and i were having s_x he stop and said something sharp was poking him and wanted to stop. i got in with the doctor the next day who swore that it was in place and i was not pregnant. I had my last period three weeks later. I am now 10 wks and have an paraguard iud. the first two doctors i saw said there was no way the iud was still in me because "that can't happen". The Third said it was no problem and would simple pull it out. I could here him in the hall way asking someone over the phone what to do! The fourth said it was no problem he had already done "30-40 of these already this year". He said that it would cause no problems and would come out with the placenta. Of course they came to this conclusion after they realized they could not get it out even after dialating my cervix and swiping around with a 6 inch Q-tip trying to catch the strings. All the doctors asured me that the iud could not move around. My biggest fear is supost to be pre-term labor as a result of the iud breaking the bags of water. It would have to move to do that. I am the mother of a 3 & 5 year old and was suppost to graduate in May 06 from nursing school. My personal opinion is I know has much as they do at this point, nothing is impossible or "can't" happen, and you know your body better than anyone. The one thing none of them have an answer for is what are the statistics for differnt problems such as fetal abnormalities, infection, miscarriage, death of the mother, long term health problems for the baby, mental handicaps, Ect. If anyone has any numbers to throw out I would truley appreciate it. I don't have the heart or the courage to end a pregnancy even with two other chil0dren to consider. Thanks

WOW!! I can't believe how many women are finding this board AND are getting pregnant with an IUD. We have 3 boys and my hubby is getting a vasectomy this month. I've had my Mirena since my 6 week postpartum appointment in Dec. My hubby was deployed and returned home in April. For the last 5-6 weeks everything I eat makes me nauseus. I've been b__wing it off as meaning something else other than pregnancy, since I am "protected by my IUD". I even took an HPT 2 weeks ago, the one that reads the words 'pregnant' or 'not pregnant' (can't remember the name) and it was negative. Then again, I had 2 false negatives with baby #3 with this same brand. I might just have to test again, although I really don't think I am.
Along with my nausea I've had some slight spotting. It's been a once a week thing since I had it inserted, but for about 2 weeks it was a daily thing. Just a small spot of bloody, pink mucus and then that was it for 24 hours or so. It's now gone away again, thankfully. Anyone else have the daily spotting? Thanks, and best wishes to you all! How scary to be pg with an IUD.

I pray that God makes things go ok... and that we are able to carry and have healthy babies.. lets keep each other inform of our progress... I am seven weeks.. so far... so good..

In response to the daily spotting. I have a discharge everyday and on days that I am stressed out or physically active I bleed like i'm starting my period, about a pad then suddenly stops. I think I'm having a miscarriage about three times a week. But the baby always has a steady heartbeat at around 182. The doctors say that it should make no difference whether i'm at the house or out going. I sometimes wonder what their wives would say.

Hi Lori, I am 9.4 weeks pregnant, and just yesterday I had my IUD taken out. The IUD was perfectly positioned in place but the string was missing. The doctors are all shocked at how I got pregnant with an IUD in its right place of position. The ob/gyn doctors took out my IUD with forceps, guided by an ultrasound. It only took a few minutes and wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

I also am pregnant with a Mirenea IUD in place. I am nine weeks and the placenta is sitting on the top of the IUD... my doctor cannot remove it because of the risk of rupturing the placenta when trying to remove it. I have one child and am excited about having a second, even considering the surprise. I was informed by my doctor that you do have a higher risk of miscarriage and also a higher risk of infection. He has advised me to cut back on work hours, rest, elevate my legs, and be aware of the signs and sympoms of a problem. Fever, chills, cramping, spotting, discharge, flu-like symptoms, etc. If I have any problem I am to go immediately to the hospital and call him on my way. I will also be going in every 2 weeks for blood tests and ultrasounds. I am going to continue the pregnancy and pray that everything works out for the best. My doctor says that he has heard stories of deliveries where the baby comes out holding the IUD. So. I am trying not to stress out about it and take it a day at the time. best of luck to you! :)

Sounds like a lot of us have a story to tell. I'm 23 years old with 2 kids: 3 and almost 1. I had my paragard IUD put in December 05. I just found out this morning that I'm pregnant. Ugh.

i am on the paragard, and took a home preg test and it is positive.i've been on it since february,i would imagine i am about five weeks i too have mixed feelings,i still wonder how this happened.the whole idea was to prevent pregnancy.they told me the strings are too far up ,so i will have to get the IUD surgically removed. i am 34 with 4 kids already,i didn't plan on a 5th.
