WOW! This is not really what I wanted to find! O gosh, my sypmtoms are my b___st are and have been sore for 2 1/2 weeks, spotting small clotty like blood for 2 weeks I have had my IUD for 4 years whats it sound like to ya'll. Im a bit concerned now that I read all these IUD pregnancy.

I am now way more worried than I was before I read all of this! I am 16 days late. I was really thinking that I was just silly to be even thinking that I could be "one" of the 1000 that get pregnant with th IUD in, especially when I can still feel the strings. Could those of you positively pregnant feel them? They were a challenge to find, quite a contortionist act, to say the least. I have even been trying to convince myself that maybe I'm pre-menopausal. (I'm only 33 tho) Part of me really wants to be pregant, but we were definately NOT planning on having a third child. We have 2 daughters, ages 7 and 3. I had what seemed like the start to my period around the correct day, but it never got any heavier than a panty-liner worth, and it was overwith in a couple days. I took a HPT last week, since I didn't really count that but that was neg. I have not had anything more of spotting or anything since, but I SWEAR I am queezy every morning. If I am preg., I would be about 6 weeks, my guess with no "real" period to speak of in February. I guess I would just like to know if this sounds similar to any of you. I am not wanting to spend more money on another HPT if it is nothing. I am also worried that there may be somthing else wrong. Thanks for you thoughts.

Monarae, guess what?! Dont be scared off the bat! I too am 33 and I went to my Dr today, I had the IUD removed because I do want to have another baby after I get married and the IUD just started making me a bit scared (just my own thoughts) anyway my Dr took a blood test and ultrasound I am not pregnant. He said at my age (he said "age" very carefully :) ) its going to happen that maybe twice a year my period gets wacky, but dont worry its ok. He did give me Nu-ring for birthcontrol since I am a freak about not wanting hormone replacements running through my body (it contains localized hormones) Basically, dont stress yourself out, go see your Dr and see what he/she says. good luck girl

Delena hey im on the same boat. I havent seen anyone else on here who has a cyst so im glad you are here.:) yeah i had a 6cm cyst on my right with a few on my left. my doctor said that it most likely is from the iud. she said a lot of women get them when they first get the iud. if you wanta talk more about this email me at crazleslie@yahoo.com or on messenger

I have had the paraguard iud for about a year and I have not had a period but 1 time in the last six months. But I am not pregnant but I do have cysts which causes me not to have a period on a regular basis. I have had an ultra sound and plenty of other test to confirm this. But in the beginning i thought i was pregnant because I was having all the symptoms of being pregnant but I am not.

I am also premenapausal becasue I only have one tube because of a tubal pregnacy I had four years ago and I am Only 31!

Does anyone know if you can stop having periods with the copper IUD?

Dovey - March 16

ok ladies...i'm going nuts here...i have all the symptoms of pregnancy...no period...2 neg. preg. tests....could i still be pregnant? I have two kids...and i never got a negative preg. test...i'm so scared!

jenlove - March 16

Lovey, Hello i have had only 1 period in the last 6 months. so it is possible and no I am not pregnant. The period that I had was very light and lasted only 1 day. But I had all of the symptoms of being pregnant! I have had the copper iud for 1 year.

Lovey - March 16

Jen, thanks so much for responding. this is nuts! have you talked to your doc? did they say why this happenes? i didn't think the copper iud would affect my period.

jenlove - March 16

Lovey, I went to the dr and i had several test done. Because I thought i was pregnant with a neg test result. The dr could no tell me exactly whatwas going on except that all my test were fine and normal. I have had a tubal preg about 4 yrs ago and i had to have my tube removed. Which my dr said it could relate to one another and there is a possiblity that I may be haveing early stages of premenapausal at 31. I really dont make sense. From what i was told you are supposed to have a period every month with the copper iud. but all this talk really scares me because i already have 2 children 11 and 6 and I work full time and I am attending college to get my masters degree. I really dont know what to do

I too have a mirena .I had it put in in April 2005 and now i am begininning to feel funn I don't have any kids now and I amreally not ready I willl take a HPT today .

Ethi - March 23

it amazes me that your doctor let you put in a MiRENA IUD when you have NO kids! you are not supposed to...but they do anything to charge money, and get paid! they also dont tell you that the MIrena IUD is not doing its job..and more and more women are getting prego on it. I am so glad that i am one of the lucky ones.. my IUD baby was born healthy, and growing nicely.. good luck to you ladies with your pregnancies, and your IUDs.. i would remove it before it is too late.

The primary reason for not using IUDs on women who have not have children is because it is a__sumed (erroneously) that those women's lifestyles are non-monogomous in nature, and IUD use is only recommended in mongomous relationships. "Q.7. Should young, nulliparous women receive IUDs? Recommendation: An IUD may be provided to young, nulliparous women only after careful and thorough consideration. An IUD is only recommended for young, nulliparous women if they are living in a stable, mutually faithful relationship. To receive IUDs, women should not be at increased risk of STDs. Counseling should focus on the risk of STDs, PID, and the possible risk of resulting infertility. Rationale: Young women statistically have a higher risk of PID. IUDs, in contrast to all other modern contraceptive methods, increase the risk of PID when a woman is infected with an STD. PID is a major risk factor of tubal infertility and ectopic pregnancies. Because young women may have patterns of s_xual activity that lead to STD risk, the relative risk of PID in young IUD users may be high. Additionally, nulliparous women receiving IUDs may be at higher risk for expulsion. The degree to which client values future fertility is an important factor in the choice of a contraceptive method. Studies have shown that the risk of PID and subsequent tubal-factor infertility is directly proportional to the risk of exposure to s_xually transmitted disease. IUDs do not protect women against PID or other STDs. Nevertheless, women should be allowed to make their own choice (7, 181, 215, 313). Origin: http://www.infoforhealth.org/pr/j44/j44chap6.shtml

My IUD just came out on its own -3/15 and now I'm waiting to see if I am pregnant. What causes an IUD just to come out like that? I wonder if it came out due to pregnancy? Any advice would be great! (I currently have 4 children).

jddblonde - March 29

jpof5 - My dr. told me that the uterus can expel the IUD at any time. It is most common after child birth, that is why they recommended that I get mine inserted when I was 3 months post-partum, therefore, less chance of it being expelled. The fact that it came out does not mean that you are pregnant.
